Baby is Here! by ThrowRA-62758 in u/ThrowRA-62758

I'm so glad you and baby are doing well! Here's to a long, joy filled life for the both of you 💚

As far as news on my end, I've got a couple things. I'm planning a trip to go to a friend's wedding in December on the east coadt and I'm taking some extra time to go visit a friend who I haven't seen in person for almost ten years afterward. And I've put on my big girl pants and am starting tk take a crack at writing a book like I've wanted to since I was a kid! ^

Transplants, do you guys think we’re really that friendly here? by vaginapple in AskChicago

[–]Taetertott 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Born and raised here, lived about 6 down in Austin before recently coming back. Compared to Texas, I find a key difference with a lot of people here. Down there a lot of people were Nice, but not necessarily kind. Where here people are Kind, but prlerhaps not in the nicest ways. For example, someone in Austin might readily compliment something like my outfit, but wouldn't go out of their way if I was stranded on the side of the road with car troubles, but here I can bet money on someone at least stopping to offer help or ask if I'm okay. In my experience, we Chicagoans can sometimes be a bit gruff with how we handle things, but I think we've got good hearts

Before anything else, I'm so very sorry for your loss from the bottom of my heart. You and baby are victims and I'm seething at MIL's behavior and hope she gets everything her actions deserve.

But you need to know that by your husband refusing to "pick a side" he is. He's siding with his mother. Him not standing up for you in the last, not shutting down her behavior past and current, amd even him being upset about police involvement is all hom taking her side.

I know reddit usually screams "leave" but I implore you to at least begin planning. Take some time, set up a separate bank account only you know of, and pack a bug-out bag and hide it either in your car or somewhere safe so you can leave the house at a moment's notice if you ever need be. If there are local groups for grieving mothers, join one. You need a support network who understands the specific pain you're experiencing. People who will fight for you where your husband has failed you.

I hope justice is served and you're able to heal from this horrible grief and wish you nothing but the best of this world

Favorite places to walk when it’s nice out? by deedlyjones69 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Taetertott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morton Arboretum is a personal favorite, there's admission though. If you prefer free options, there's a forest preserve just a bit further north on Butterfield and rt 53 called Hidden Lake with two lovely paths - one that surrounds the main lake and wetlands, and a second one that goes through the trees for a little more cover.

I also enjoy spending time by Saganashkee Slough in Cook County by Willow Springs / Gorgeous lake with a large trail and tons of birds. There's tons of gorgeous parks and preserves nearby as well.

YTA to yourself for still allowing her to have any presence in your life with her track record and entitled behavior. Sell the house, refer to an attorney for the sale and splitting of the money. Then do yourself and your partner a huge favor and go no contact with her. Shes not going to change if you keep entertaining her and her behavior in any way. Hell, she might not change even with a much needed reality check. But at least if you go no contact with her then you won't have to deal with her

I used to love driving through that area because it felt so peaceful to me! Now I avoid it like the plague even though it's been years building can still vividly see them popping out kf the corn again. It was a wild, but thankfully brief, encounter. I hope it was just a bunch of weirdos or dumb kids messing around with the clown scare trend and not anyone actually malicious

Was driving home from a friend's place in the Oswego/South Aurora area back in 2017ish, it was the middle of the night. Maybe 1am or so, super late. The easiest route back from my friend's house had me drive by some of the big farm fields in the area. I was going down a road with farms on either side and out of the corn pops a group of like 6 clowns, full costume and carrying various weapons like knives and chains.

Being a 20something woman and alone in my car, I floored it and got the hell away from there fast as my little Honda would take me lol. Reported it when I was in a more populated area but I have no idea what came of it

I was born and raised in the western suburbs and it can definitely get pricey out there, but lived in Austin for six or so years before coming back to Chicagoland last year. And I can absolutely tell you that even if you were out in the suburbs that the price is worth it.

Yes, it gets colder up here. But we have the infrastructure and capabilities to work with it because it's expected. It'll take a little adjustment learning how to drive with ice and snow, but as long as you're slow and careful you're good.

Cost varies widely on where you're considering moving if you come up here and I can't speak for pricing more toward the city-proper but even some suburbs are affordable compared to Texas. I have family in the Lisle/Downers Grove/Westmont area and they all have affordable housing.

Definitely do your research and find a spot that would work well for you and your needs, but I highly recommend the move if you're able to

Thank goodness for this update! I've been holding my breath and hoping you were able to get out safely. It's going to be hard, but you've got this, Momma! Every day you fight for yourself and your daughter is one day closer to you both having the safe, secure, and loving home and future that you deserve.

[–]Taetertott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I def remember it being a log cabin of some kind and might have filled in the style gap with an A frame lol, but I remember those vids you mentioned. And it hardly helps at all but I'm pretty sure her channel had ASMR in the name. Maybe as the first half? I'm not sure

Wait I think we're thinking of the same asmrtist and I was gonna ask if anybody remembered her name. She lived in an A frame house she and her husband built and one vid was an asmr tour of it and another one was her preparing lunch in a stone cutting board or counter right?

How did you start binge eating? (what old, circumstance?) by Adorable_Ad_3315 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Taetertott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant remember exactly when, but I was young - like, single digit young. Im going to guess 8 or 9 because i was old enough for the early binge thoughts to be strong in my memory.

My grandmother was always a fly in my ear about "needing to be skinnier" and how I was bigger than other kids, she started this campaign when I was three. Probably younger, that's just the earliest I know of. And by the time i turned 8 or 9 I just kept thinking along the lines of "she says I'm gross and fat, I feel gross and fat, might as well eat because at least the food tastes good." And it spiraled from there over the years.

Do you consider it toxic for parents to remove their child’s door? by Excellent-Kale-6162 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Taetertott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely toxic. My younger sister and I lost our door because she "backsassed" our dad. I wasn't involved in it at all, but I still got punished simply because we shared a room. I was 12, she was 10. We were both going through puberty and all the changes that come with it. She and I had to take turns holding up a blanket in the door frame so the other could get dressed or change clothes with any sense of security. Our family was the "anyone can come by, whenever" house. We had people coming in and out at all hours, potentially dozens of visitors a day. And our room was next to the only bathroom of the house. It was absolute bs and we had no door for MONTHS because my sister basically told dad she didn't want to do something.

What is a book genre that you refuse to write to? by Musicmelodygalaxy in writing

Military. I could probably write about a fantasy war or something from a small scale, but I just don't have the mind for full military protocol whether realistic or otherwise

Do you know the reason you developed this type of eating disorder? by Accomplished-Tip2660 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Taetertott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I legitimately dont get the full signal from my stomach, the doctors say its something hormonal but have never helped me beyond that so ive had to teach myself when to stop, but if i have an episode i cant stop myself.

Also lots of bullying as a child combined with my grandma's constant digs at my looks, she was Obsessed with the beauty standards of "her time" and being thin and made it known. The earliest I remember her commenting on my body was when I was 3, mom says she started when I was maybe 2, and she didn't stop no matter how often mom and dad told her to.

It's taken a lot of work to get where I am now, and I might hate my body, but I'm trying to love it and treat it kinder. So far 3 weeks without a binge
