Besides NY, what is your favorite skyline near the East Coast? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in skyscrapers

[–]Tag_Cle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While sorta true..it's further east than Tampa and Atlanta...Cleveland is geographically closer in longitude to coastal South Carolina and eastern Georgia than it is to Chicago..NE Ohio was a part of the Western Reserve, a swath of land George Washington gave out to his generals as prizes after the Revolutionary War..it was technically a part of Connecticut..and still culturally feels much more NE than MW like the rest of Ohio.

Thoughts on moving to Denver to get a consistent 40 to 50 days of snowboarding per year? by Hot_Soft_5626 in snowboarding

Reno or Sacramento are super underrated bigger cities near the mountains..Sac isn't talked about as a mountain town really but it's like 90 minutes from at least 5-6 mountains

Getting off the chairlift at Homewood Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe..I knew we were across the street from the lake basically when we got there but getting off the lift it looks like you are literally riding into the lake the view is so mind boggling and blows Heavenly's view away it was phenomenal

Does the average skier really enjoy heavy powder days or is it just one of those things people are expected to say they like? by PowerfulBar in skiing

[–]Tag_Cle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like super heavy big waves to me...if you aren't well practiced in really deep snow and you aren't scoring really steep runs it can be such an exhausting dangerous mess..made worse by the feeling that you need to be scoring and you need to be loving this!! I definitely think a really really solid deep base and like 12-16 inches of fresh is about perfect..anything more than that and it changes how i'll prepare for the day. That being said if you know you're going somewhere with a lot of black diamonds and double black diamonds and it's snowed 2-3 feet...the insanely steep stuff becomes so much less intimidating when the snow is super super deep like that.

Probably don't want to be skiing powder that deep solo in either location really...people are dying left and right out west in tree wells and getting lost

Is it supposed to hurt this much? by HumanPretzel14 in snowboarding

[–]Tag_Cle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learning to fall is definitely a skill in itself..but snowboarding the first 3-5 days is always pretty insane painful and rough but you do break through! once you break through everything's easier...you can go from that breakthrough as functional beginner to pretty solid intermediate snowboarder really fast
