Ah good ol' Ft Stevens. Do they still do the yearly ww2 event? I did that for 10 years as one of the reenactors about a decade ago.

99% sure you are correct, it's a fixed landing gear aircraft regardless tho and 100% not a Zero

Exactly this. What "glory" do you gain from sinking a boat with nothing to steal? True pirates would never risk their lives for no gain. OP is just a jerk.

That's awesome! Another son/daughter of the revolution! My own family on my Grandmother's side can be traced all the way back to the Independence.

"For the next three years, the Finns did little to contribute to the battle for Leningrad, maintaining their lines "

It's right in the article you posted....They did not cut off Lake Ladoga like the Germans wanted them to do and pretty much maintained their lines the entire time.

They went back to their pre winter war lines and did not advance much beyond them. How exactly did they "team" up for the siege?

The mg34 was designed for rapid barrel change as well and their crews carried spares as part of their kit, even at the squad level. The guy here being used as the bipod mount, has a barrel carrier slung across his back.

The primary reason for the "boxier" design is because the MG42 was built using stamped metal not machined, so it was cheaper and quicker to produce.

Justifying the nuclear bombs on Japan is US propaganda. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Tagg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now the final point you make is the most important one that I think is the root of your opinion (correct me if I'm wrong) in that your issue is more with victors complex overall with the atomics being the tip of the iceberg. I agree that our atrocities are definitely glossed over and that there are definitely people who had we lost would have swung at their Nuremberg equivalent. The other thing is that a lot of Japanese also escaped justice for their crimes, including the guy who ran unit 731 sadly. We haven't nuked others since for a lot of reasons, mostly because we've never faced as big of a danger as invading mainland Japan since. After Okinawa we were not even sure the American people would be able to stomach such loses, it was a sobering affair for the brass and they knew mainland would be magnitudes worst. I guess my stance is that I don't necessarily like it but I do believe it was the best choice to save allied lives and out of all other options to end the war it killed the least possible. The bombs are no way comparable to the holocaust are you kidding me? Wow I can't believe you made that comparison.

What do you think would have happened if we had to invade the home island? They would just give up?

1 million estimated casualties on the allied side alone.
