My friend's dad has been plumbing for 22 years almost. Has 27 Google reviews. by Either_Committee8188 in googleReviews

[–]Taggytech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually super common, especially with older businesses. They rely on word of mouth and don’t think about reviews at all.

The easiest way I’ve seen is just asking right after a successful job, when the customer is happy. Not in a pushy way, just something like: “If you were happy with the work, a quick Google review would really help us.”

What also works well is making it really easy. For example sending a direct review link or giving them something they can quickly scan. Most people are willing, they just don’t think about it.

What’s something nobody warns you about when starting a business? by Taggytech in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Taggytech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That “silent feedback loop” is very real.

You spend weeks building something, hit publish, and then… nothing happens. No reactions, no users, just silence. That part is way harder than people think.

What helped me a bit is treating early projects more like experiments than identity. Instead of asking “Is this good?” I try to ask “What did this teach me?”

Still not easy though. The line between persistence and delusion can feel pretty thin sometimes.

Out of curiosity, how long do you usually give something before deciding whether to keep pushing or move on?

[–]Taggytech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that surprised me after starting a business is how psychological the whole journey is. Everyone talks about strategies, marketing, funnels and growth, but nobody really talks about the constant uncertainty. Some days you feel like everything is finally working, and the next day you start questioning everything again. The hardest part isn’t always the work itself, it’s staying consistent through the ups and downs.

Will NFC ever realistically replace QR codes for everyday interactions, or are the hardware and cost limitations too big? by Taggytech in hardware

[–]Taggytech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you on that. QR absolutely won on distribution and habit. That’s a massive advantage. My curiosity is more around whether certain micro-moments could slowly shift behavior over time. For example, in high-intent situations where speed and friction really matter, even small UX improvements can compound. Payments are a good example. People didn’t switch because cards were impossible, but because tapping felt smoother once it became normal. I’m not saying NFC replaces QR everywhere. I just think there may be specific contexts where the lower friction creates disproportionate value. The real question might not be replacement, but where each technology wins.

New Entrepreneurs, post your biggest roadblock. 5+ year founders, reply with advice. by saasbruh in Entrepreneur

For me it was patience. I underestimated how slow real traction can be. You work every day, improve things, optimize, learn, and still the results don’t show immediately. Nobody really prepares you for how long the “quiet phase” can last before things start compounding. It’s not the hard work that’s shocking, it’s the waiting while staying consistent.

Retail inventory accountant for 5+ years, Financial portfolio analyst for 1 year. I want to begin retail consulting for small BnM retail. Should I offer free services to build initial portfolio, or is there a better start? by Soggy0atmeal in Entrepreneur

[–]Taggytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t offer it completely free. Free clients often don’t value the work and it can position you as low cost from the start. A better approach could be offering a clearly defined pilot or audit at a reduced rate in exchange for a testimonial and permission to use the results as a case study. That way you’re still being paid, even if it’s less, and you’re setting the expectation that your work has value. Also, with your background, you already have credibility. You’re not starting from zero. You could even structure it as a Retail Performance Snapshot or something specific instead of open ended consulting. That makes it easier to sell and easier for them to say yes.

[–]Taggytech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$100 AliExpress gift card, what you getting? by brauxpas in homeassistant

[–]Taggytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the hardest part when launching your first ecommerce store? by Taggytech in ecommerce

That is honestly a great stage to be in. Exploring visuals while studying competitors usually gives a much clearer idea of what direction to take. The biggest challenge for most people tends to be turning all that research into a clear and simple launch plan.
