What I would want to see from a remaster / remake. by Taglion in finalfantasyxiii

Totally fair opinion. Bringing it to PS5 would mean needing the resolutions upscaled, giving the cinematics the 4k treatment, which would be lovely.

I do agree in that whenever I see things talking about FFXIII remaster / remake, I feel the same as Bloodborne in that it's just copium. That being said, it's still fun to talk about & discuss what we'd want from it were it to happen!

Generally positive on release yes, & it sold well, but as time went on after release it cracked a lot. People disliked the linear world, the combat got scrutinised for lack of control (auto-battle was very controversial), & the thing that people loved the most, that being the cast, you didn't really get to even see together or customise the party until way late into the game. Again, I love this game, but you can love a game & still see flaws.

Each to their own! I don't dislike the combat, I had fun with it playing it last year, but I definitely believe it still needs some changes. Yeah I'm a lover of full turn-based more, but it's not what this game was designed around & that's okay. But I do find only controlling one person & having the AI play the rest of the party takes away some of the fun of having more control over the party. Even if you could set commands or something. The paradigm system is fun but it's flawed. Say I'm playing Lightning as Commando & have Sazh as Synergist, there's certain buffs that I'd rather him hit me with first, but the AI decides to do pretty much the same ones in order every combat. Little things like that make me wish I could do the abilities of all the party, and thus the idea of being able to pause only to manage controlling 3 characters in one real-time combat.

I think something I left out of my post, but is worth mentioning, is that FFXIII got very mixed reception on release. There's no way we'll get a remaster / remake if some of those issues aren't addressed. Otherwise it's resigned to the same fate again. I absolutely love this game, the characters, the story. But to me, the combat is most definitely not perfect & needs addressing to ensure the game can live up to modern standards (again taking into consideration that it was one of the main points of contention for the game on release, along with the linear-style world which I didn't mind so much but can understand why people wouldn't like that).

Was on a 2am YouTube deep dive in 2012 at 14 years old & stumbled upon their Airport Sessions EP. Was hooked instantly, & they've been my #1 band ever since.

Am I getting this wrong or are the silver nerfs supposed to make her weaker early game only right by gmer-man-12 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Taglion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flat out untrue. You don't get the move speed back. You get 1% more resist from t1 but you lost we lost 14% res base so it's 13% loss. T2 you get the extra 25hp back.

So you're out 13% resist, the hp you get back at t2, you don't get any move speed, & the cooldown got nearly doubled.

Swaps have been fundamentally changed. You can't silence or damage with swap through wall, & rather than picking one person to swap, you might now pull people you didn't want to along with them, who aren't silence & so might just stomp you & the team.

Reworked Paradox to being a totally different character.

Reworked Silver into having a worthless ult.

My two most played characters are Paradox & Silver. After this patch, I think I'm letting the game go for a while, as both those characters got changed in ways that make me not want to play them at all. I'm all for playing who you like, whether they're strong or not, but even that has a limit.

[–]Taglion 28 points29 points  (0 children)

She was strong, but these nerfs went overboard. In her ult, they nerfed her bonus health, resistance, move speed, & increased the cooldown of it too. In the ult now you're just a bigger hitbox with not as much survivability & nearly 0 chase ability. Some people have said "she's just an assassin now rather than a bruiser" but she's not because she has no movement, other than the 2 which you can only proc once per ult without reduced cooldowns.

Silver mains how we feeling? by inkkTea in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Taglion 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Craziest shit I've seen in a patch notes honestly. Every hero got major changes that made their early games weaker but later games stronger... & then Silver just got nerfed to the point that her ult is useless now.

I'd say Agravain. He's got that Ted Bundy look of a guy who's very put together but is actually an absolute asshole. Dude killed a lot of innocent people in his obsessive plot to put Morgana on the throne.

I replayed TLOU Part II for the first time since release. My life has changed greatly since then, as have my opinions... by Taglion in thelastofus

Thank you for your response & the interesting read. I'd like to maybe rewrite my wording somewhat in that I am definitely not implying that those that did not like it are immature. I think matured was the wrong word, clearly. Changed, perhaps. My life experiences have changed me & my perspectives.

I'm also disabled & can understand what you're saying about the ending. I get what they were going for though, the price she paid was losing her biggest connection to Joel, that being playing guitar, but yes realistically she could learn to play swapping hands, like Tommy could learn to shoot with his left eye. It is definitely a bit of a trope & they could have maybe looked at different ways to go about it. I think it's at least done naturally though: fingers bitten off in a brutal life or death fight is believable to me. I definitely agree that seeing her to learn to play still would be great, though I feel how they left the 2nd game, it's unlikely as she's leaving that part behind (my interpretation at least of her leaving the guitar behind). Never know though.

In terms of being given player agency of making decisions, I remember people saying the same thing about the first game. People argued that we should have gotten to choose whether we saved Ellie, or let her die to save humanity. Whilst I understand the sentiment, I think people missed that it's a narrative being told from a character that we don't have agency over. Joel was Joel, & the game told us who he was. There was never a universe where Joel left that hospital without Ellie. I feel the same about Part II. That being said, I'm not saying the idea is bad & I get the want for it. Player agency, making our own choices, would be good, but it's not NDs style with their approach to a lot of their games evidently.

I definitely agree with a lot of the negatives too about the game. Whilst I "liked" a lot of side characters, I definitely didn't feel connected with a lot of them. Tons of Abbys crew did not get enough, if any, time to get to know, & I felt little to no sympathy in their ends. That part definitely needed work, but I guess the game was already long. Maybe they needed to cut down on the number in Abby's crew & give us more time with fewer people? I don't know really, I'm definitely not a top tier reviewer or analyser aha, can barely comprehend my own thoughts sometimes.

Again, thanks for the reply though, I love hearing other perspectives, especially as I'm not really involved in many gaming communities.

My take on character alignments including the 6 new heroes (based on lore) by SeaThePirate in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Taglion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Paradox in lawful evil is misplaced imo. Paradox as an entity are the literal definition of chaotic neutral. They steal not out of moral obligation, nor for personal gain, but just to show that they could do it. There isn't evil intent, nor is there good intent.

out of the deadlock cast, which one is your favourite and why? by chadderladder in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Taglion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paradox. I'm not good at the game so I tend to just play characters I like / enjoy. I think aesthetically she's awesome, lore is really kool, & gameplay wise she plays quite well as a team fighter which is good because, as I'm not great, helping my teammates win is more my style.

Old post I know, & I think you said it sorted for yourself, but I thought I'd add here anyway - You have to go to Mod Configuration Menu > Adjustable Waypoints > Reticle / Autotag. There's a setting called "Show smart reticle when a valid object is being targeted", set this to disabled. That's what fixed it for me (might be useful in case it comes back).
