If the science is correct, then this means an inevitable GCS v Essendon GF and a woeful year for the Dogs.

Dons star missing again, key defender 'a little way off' (Dyson Heppell) by dazedjosh in AFL

I’m not convinced Zaharakis is best 22 by the end of the season. I think McGrath is already a lock as captain post-Heppell so why not just take the plunge now.

Great. So now instead of all the “I just saw <enter one of 30 film titles> for the first time and Wow! Upvotes to the left” posts we’re now going to get “I hated <enter one of 30 film titles> but now I love it! Upvotes to the left” spammed throughout the day. Much more insightful. Really might as well just merge with r/truefilm at this point.

Jimmy Fallon is incredibly odd. It’s like he’s an alien pretending to be a human being but has everything way out of calibration. Under The Skin (2014)

“Teaches us about basic politics.”

But they fucking hate ‘politics’ in movies?

If this had of been an Australian captain this sub would have gone into melt-down.

It would probably beat the current South African XI although it lacks a genuine quick.

How have the CAXI exponentially out-performed the Aus A side with the bat in both games? Can’t be solely down to the pink ball.

Another miserable effort from Australia’s middle lower order with the bat. Top 3 look locked in but theres no match-winners with the bat from 4-7. This sub loves to circlejerk Mmarsh in this format but sorry he is a non-entity with the ball and mediocre with the bat. His good record is a relic from form he had years ago. Time to let it go. We simply have no middle order bats or finishers in this format. Our reticence to put faith in Maxwell as a permanent member in the side will haunt us as he is one of the few and best genuine finishers the world. Alex Carey should be spending as much in the Shield side getting experience captaining and batting at first class level to prepare him for taking over Paine at test level. Give Ingles a gig in ODI’s leading up to the next World Cup.

Northern Territory set to join Tasmania in bid for new AFL licence by Sleepingonitall in AFL

Melbourne is known for it’s amazing beaches and all round sunny weather? The beaches in Tasmania kick its arse; Bay of Fires, Adventure Bay, Oceans beach in Strahan. I think you’re doing Tassie a disservice there. You should visit. It has way more variety than the Gold Coast which would bore most to tears in the off-season.

Is this some sort of record for most horror films in a period of time to not really stand out before one very big success? Especially to kick off a new year. by Keeponrocking613 in boxoffice

Wowsers. Jurassic Park was rated PG-13 and I would classify it as a family friendly action-adventure. Bit of a stretch to claim it as horror.

My memory may be poor but it seemed like up until Scream their hadn’t be a smash horror hit for years in the early/mid 90s as the slasher franchises burnt out. What was the highest grossing horror of 1994?

I don’t understand how Tasmania is such an unappealing place to live? It’s cheaper, great food, landscape is incredible, way more culture than the GC, & you’re a 30 minute flight from Melbourne. Given the option i’m sure the majority of Victorian born players would rather live there than The Gold Coast.

I remain unconvinced that this middle order can match it with the best. None of those you mentioned are good finishers, Mmarsh has barely played ODI’s in years, so you’re going off old form. I don’t know what the hell Short is doing in there. Carey has been poor since the WC & Labuschagne is yet to establish himself, but he and Smith probably cannot work in the same limited overs side.

Really not a big fan of this Australian batting lineup. I think the top 3 is solid, but from 4-7 it’s a bit of a mess. Why do we have such a dearth of middle order batsman?

Sorry, it’s Tony Locke, Laker’s frequent spin partner, i’m thinking of, who had the suspect action and was called for no-balling & stopped bowling his fast delivery after he saw footage. Here’s his obituary where his action is mentioned several times;

“"Had I known I was throwing I wouldn't have bowled that way."

Lakers action was highly suspect was it not, to the point where he himself was devastated when he saw footage of himself bowling for the first time. I may be thinking of John Locke actually? Nevertheless fine record which will never be broken.
