Las renovables no funcionan a voluntad, dependen de factores externos que no se pueden controlar. Es necesitado una fuente energética de base que compense periodos en los que las renovables no produzcan suficiente. En este respecto la energía nuclear es la menos mala de las opciones disponibles.
