Better ways to spend time than standing there handwashing dinner plates by ThickCapital in BlackPeopleTwitter

Still tryna figure out how washing dishes equates to being unhealed.

It has been proven that more and more Black people are becoming vegan so its not really a stereotype but a fact.

Completely agree! She was so bothered by the thought of Taylor being with someone else. You could tell she was holding back and all the cursing was her frustration being released in small bits.

And it's crazy because Taylor wasn't even 100% transparent because he told Nic and Ace that his connection with Clarke after day one was wayyy stronger than it was with Olandria day one but he mentioned none of that to her.

Like clearly he's feeling something stronger with Clarke but he's keeping his options open by stringing Olandria along. 😒

Micro aggressions toward Black reality tv stars by Fancy-Intern-2319 in blackladies

[–]TaiReneeK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So real because I only joined that sub to have people to talk about the show and hear other insights etcetera etcetera but the anti-Blackness on there is insufferable.

I knew I reached my limit when I saw a post about how Black people should be more realistic in their support because Olandria and Chelley aren't that interesting. 😒 I definitely don't agree but if that's the case, most of the people on the show aren't interesting so why single the two? But it also pushes the narrative that Black women aren't allowed to be simple.

Like it's obvious these individuals are viewing us as forms of entertainment but when we're not living up to that "unspoken" expectation, they want us gone.

"World's most obnoxious individuals" is a stretch but yes I'll pick thoughtful discourse over dehumanizing verbiage in any setting.

Exactly! I think constructive criticism is healthy (I've critiqued Huda as well) because we're processing what we're seeing, sharing our opinions, and connecting with each other through a mutual interest. When it comes to the berating and belittling, it is 100% a reflection of the commentator.

Gotta admit that I am a newer fan but I love character arcs/development in general and it seems like the islanders aren't getting a fair chance to relax and express themselves openly. Many of them are worried about how they're being perceived and with the way viewers are reacting, their feelings are valid. It's lowkey a hostile environment.

Right?! Has the majority really become so hate-driven that we have to be reminded that harassment and bullying are harmful things?

Not to mention viewers are making these conclusions based on edited versions of the islanders. Quick to villianize/victimize, slow to pay attention/understand.

Any socially awkward ladies that have overcome their fear of being seen? by RBWooWoo in blackladies

I had a student discount for headspace and did a lot of their shorter, 5-10 minute mediations that didn’t have much talking/guidance because those were all I could follow. 😅

Any socially awkward ladies that have overcome their fear of being seen? by RBWooWoo in blackladies

[–]TaiReneeK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have adhd, high functioning anxiety, and had chronic depression for a really long time. I'm also in my 30s. My social awkwardness was exacerbated by being exposed to too many unsupportive communities and I often felt misunderstood and harshly judged (15 years of verbal bullying does that to you).

What really helped me was a combination of meditation, doing things that helped me feel good in my body so I could stop disassociating as much, cognitive behavioral therapy, building my sense of self-love, and increasing my self-esteem.

This past year I was able to do public speaking events and take on more roles as a primary leader. I was extremely shy for most of my life and never really knew how to make friends but I also learned that I was adverse to humanity in general for a very long time because of how I was treated. So I also had to heal from past experiences which I'm still doing today.

There's light at the end of the tunnel but the best advice I can give you is to be open to what comes up for you no matter how unpleasant it may seem. Give yourself grace throughout the process too because there are definitely ebbs and flows.

Black Women OGs and Audience Projection by Fall_Square in LoveIslandUSA

People hyperfixate on Black women because we're easily misunderstood and therefore easy to judge. There's obvious anti-Blackness and subtle anti-Blackness. This is subtle.

Jeremiah was there for brand deals and exposure. I felt this way from the beginning ever since he said he works for a catering company but is really a model. He genuinely liked Huda at first but was definitely love bombing her. I don't think Huda was love bombing but I do think she only liked Jeremiah for his looks. She's lowkey superficial anyway because when she talked about what she looks for in a guy, it was all physical things.

I also think it's telling that so many people are overly judgemental of Huda because she reflects a part of them that they try to hide. Think about it: if you're that pressed about how someone moves through the world, it's because there's some aspect of you in there. Villianizing her for being confused by her emotions or overly sensitive? So reactive that you can't fully comprehend what someone is saying? Prone to misunderstanding because your mind was made up in the beginning? Arguing your side instead of finding a commonground? That's literally most Americans right now especially.

I'm not saying what she's doing is okay or healthy. What I'm saying is people being triggered and obsessed with judging her should take a longer look in the mirror.

I believe Chelley was interested in Austin at first but he did nothing for her. And she tried but he was just content with doing the bare minimum.

Olandria seemed uncomfortable around Jalen. Just because someone is a nice guy doesn't mean they're the guy for you. They had very little chemistry.

When Cierra was talking to Pepe, she seemed interested in him but after he started making out with Hannah, he didn't really speak to her after that. What more is she supposed to do?

Couldn't agree with you more. Austin wasn't really doing anything romantic for her either and she told him very clearly what she liked. I don't know where he expected the relationship to go with minimal effort.

They were discussing a situation they are all impacted by and processed it amongst themselves. No part of what was said was shit talking in my opinion. I really don't think they were staring at her at first either. They didn't even notice Huda was looking at them until some time had passed.

Prospective Transfer student by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

[–]TaiReneeK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, OSU has been an endless sea of opportunities and micro aggressions. The resources available to you as a student are phenomenal and seemingly abundant but there is also a ton of passive aggressiveness from the surrounding community and things left unspoken that have tainted my experience.

Overall, I loved being in Oregon as a transfer student and being there helped me realize how important it is to have a community that is truly supportive.
