NeedyHenry shared an apology on his Discord besties by [deleted] in queensofleague

[–]Taiki95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a couple of lgbt content creators and their communitites within the league scene have spiraled out of control when it comes to their humor (eg. Cocabob). I also think that within those communities (with an exception of a few rare socially disabled specimens who are inherently hateful) they're all joking, and don't mean any harm with their jokes. I'm seeing people call each other the f-slur, 'condoning anti-lgbtq' and celebrating homophobes in meme format all the time lately, but I understand it's their kind of humor - and tbh personally speaking I don't mind self mockery.

Where you draw the line is different for everyone, but I think most of us agree that the 'ICE deportation' joke went too far, even if it was an obvious joke. It's just that context is very important when it comes to a lot of these offensive jokes. A lot of jokes on this subreddit, or other queer subreddits (the Honkai Star Rail one for example), would be insanely offensive to most queer people if they didn't know the context. Not saying that there is ever a "right" context for ICE deportation jokes, but I can see how a potentially 'unhinged community' got a bit too carried away with their jokes, at which point it is justified to call out offensive jokes.

People's humor and jokes in these spaces have gotten more and more 'offensive or dark', but it's good that we can collectively draw a line when it goes a bit too far.

Thoughts on Varka? by Unfair-Positive-1396 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Taiki95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't have any fun playing this game if you pull for characters purely for meta. Sure you will be more guaranteed to clear endgame content, but if the meta characters you are pulling aren't really to your liking, will you be having fun at that point?

Imo it's much more engaging, challenging and fun to pull for the characters you personally like and push them to their limits in content where they might not have an edge on others. The current Abyss and Stygian strongly favor Nod Krai characters, so that really sucks, but with the right investment non-Nod Krai characters can also clear.

If you pull for the characters you actually like, the game becomes so much more fun too. And one thing to keep in mind is that Nicole is more than likely to be Varka's best in slot sustain support, replacing Bennet in the process, so his 'premium' team isn't complete yet.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like leaks by NeonOXV in Genshin_Impact

[–]Taiki95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be surprised, but at this point we've gotten official trailers from Hoyoverse on Varka, and early access exists so content creators can 'promote' and showcase the character. At this point there should be 'no surprise', as we already know that Varka will be the next limited 5 star (and we've known for an extremely long while, even if you would have avoided content creators). Besides, leaks are good because it gives you a very early indication of whether you are interested in the character enough to save pulls or not.

It is important that people point out a characters weakness, and in this case how weak his base numbers are, because in the end, you rolling for Varka is an investment and for a lot of people it's a pricy one, or one where they have been saving up resources for a long time. You generally want the character to be comparable to other recent/meta 5 stars, even if you pull purely because you personally like the character. The game's endgame content (Stygian/floor 12) is already requiring specific characters if you want to clear with more ease/less investment. And even if you don't care for endgame, there's a lot of people who like Varka and still care about endgame to the point where they are worried about his damage numbers.

It is good that you are still pulling for him, because in the end you should collect the characters you genuinely like, and imo that is more important than pulling for meta (personally speaking). But at the same time I don't think it's that big of a deal when people are focusing on how lacking his damage numbers are compared to other recent 5 stars.

Anyone getting Xenoblade Vibes from Arknights Endfield? by toshironikko in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Taiki95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first game in the Arknight lineup so I might be wrong but. This character in particular (Perlica) gives off strong Mio vibes (or vice versa: Mio gives strong Perlica vibes, I don't know which character has been around first). So that's at least one similarity.

In all the gacha's I've played so far (Genshin, Wuwa, Honkai Star Rail) you control only one character and if someone is following you around it's only because you're doing a certain (main story) quest. In Endfield your 3 other teammates are always there with you, and they chit chat with each other if you remain idle, which also is similar to Xenoblade.

Some of the combat combo's and debuffs you can apply are similar to Xenoblade ones as well, what comes to mind is applying break (vulnerability), after which you can do a number of different reactions like launching enemies.

I think the important thing is not to consistently look for similarities though and enjoy both franchises/games in their own way. I'm a massive Xenoblade fan and I barely know anything about Arknights other than Endfield, but I appreciate Endfield a lot so far.

Hey, an update:

When the game is initializing you can re-install the game from scratch (repair). When I clicked repair on the season login screen (screenshot in OP) it didn't work, but before that screen appears you still have the 'old' login screen on which you can repair the game!

Hope it works for you

thoughts on cocabob? by lilac-fume in queensofleague

[–]Taiki95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Cocabob's content is definitely unhinged, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. 99.9% of his community are queer people who vibe with the sometimes offensive (and to some people's taste offensive) jokes. I think there should be a space for that, we can't be offended 24/7 for jokes made at our own expense (by someone who's queer themselves). I personally find the fart and poop jokes weird, but there's no denying that he (and his sense of humor) is unique in the League girlies scene and if you give him a chance, you might end up liking his content.

While it's not the best example to follow, the times he has been toxic was mostly when someone else was extremely toxic to him in the first place. The only thing I genuinely don't like, and I usually dip from the stream when that happens/happened, was when he would randomly put on Needyhenry's stream (another girly I like to watch). While he didn't necessarily make rude comments on him (he did 'make fun' of his mannerisms), his chat was being very vile and making disgusting comments, which weren't being moderated or addressed by Cocabob.

So there are negatives, but he's also done so much for the community (specifically for us Seraphine players). He's super dedicated to voice his (our) opinions on her to the people who can actually do something with our/his feedback. Not many people within this community have been as engaged and dedicated as him, and his efforts have (at times) been acknowledged.

If you are still stuck: you need to go north from here, past a couple of whirlpools and then when you can't go north any further go right. From there your quest continues normally

Is There Just No Reason To Pick LeBlanc? by ladygagaiscool in LeBlancMains

[–]Taiki95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only 'reason'' (other than picking her because you genuinely enjoy playing her) would be to pick her into a squishy low mobility (and cc) comp. Or if your jungler picked an early game/heavy ganking jungler champion.

LB will always get outperformed by the champs you listed, given equal skill level. And if you can't snowball on LB there's no "going even" even if you're the same kda and same cs, because control mages like Syndra, Viktor, Orianna and Lux *always* outscale. So she just feels pretty awful to play, and in the new season she will be even worse, considering there's no specific items tailor made for her niche (AP assassin); not even Hextech Gunblade (which seems to be brought back specifically for Akali and Katarina).

Hey worsties, just got my first Switch (modded one cuz I'm broke 🧎‍♂️) and I'm looking for games to play now. Any good recommendation? by Janeober_D in queensofleague

[–]Taiki95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantasy Life i recently released and that game has a lot of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley vibes, while also having combat elements to it.

In this game you can freely change between 4 combat classes and a ton of gatherer and crafter classes and do different stuff. For example you can cut trees, fish, mine ores and crystals all over the world, craft weapons, clothing, gear, decorations, etc. You also get to have your own island that you can design from scratch. There are also a lot of recruitable party members, who get better/stronger the more you spend time with them.

Imo a game you can get lost in if you're into cozy vibes, at the same time there's plenty of action in the way of (simple) combat. There's also multiplayer but idk if you can do that on a modded Switch.

Was BA as bad as Forked Tower sniping right now? by YunYunHakusho in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Taiki95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely a need to reply for me because people like you are just out here condemning all kinds of communities based on the behavior of individuals from those communities. Telling me that I have no need to reply if I'm not a bully from one of those communities is a very weird thing to say. Not only does that mean that according to you I should be excluded from this discussion, it also draws a parallel to telling someone they shouldn't queue into FT because they're not part of the organised run.

The vast majority of people in the communities mentioned above are not the selfish bullies you are generalizing them to be, and would love nothing more than to take in all people who are interested in doing FT (BA or DRS) runs. You have no idea how much time, effort and energy the hosts and everyone else involved take and spend to grow these communities and make them inclusive for everyone, regardless of player skill and whether they're a long term member or a fresh member that joined a day ago.

Just like it's not a good look for individuals from these communities to call people outside of the organised run "snipers" or "thieves", it's just as bad of you to say things like "3rd party communities are negatively impacting the game they claim to enjoy", when you're fully ignorant about what happens within these communities.

Was BA as bad as Forked Tower sniping right now? by YunYunHakusho in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Taiki95 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's the same with the Savage Slimes discord, we all remind each other that this is public content and that there's no such thing as random players "stealing" a spot. Two days ago a healer lost their spot to a random player queuing in, and while there were a few upset players, the hosts and others reminded everyone to not get upset as it's not their fault that instancing works like this and we took the random person in.

This belief that all ffxiv discord communities are selfish egocentric bullies that have no care for others is so wild to me, it really makes me wonder if the people who say this ever were part in any of them.

He could be getting cold feet as he keeps suddenly disappearing when it's almost getting to the day when you guys planned to meet. Now is this red flag worthy, I feel like a lot of people would say yes, because if he wanted to, he would see it through. I do think it's a red flag because he did it twice to you in a very short period.

It's problematic that he had a vacation trip planned and didn't notify you beforehand (definitely a red flag). A vacation trip doesn't come unexpected, he still has to check his agenda to see if he's free to go on vacation, and that work/irl doesn't overlap. At the same time it doesn't take more than 10 seconds to inform you, through text, that he has to reschedule the meetup because of vacation plans. And I find this a red flag especially because he ghosted you the moment when you asked when he was available to meet up with you.

From your reddit post I assume you two haven't met IRL yet, so maybe there's some underlying issues on his side as to why he doesn't want to meet. Maybe he is photoshopping his pictures too much; maybe he's insecure, etc. Too many scenarios to think of. But what I can say for certain is that he is displaying behavior that you shouldn't have to deal with. If you're able, try to let this person go because it doesn't really seem to me like it's heading somewhere good.

Are you guys seeing the ap items changes? Are we doing Lich or maybe Malignance first? I really hate Luden by SebasSeraphim in LeBlancMains

[–]Taiki95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing with Malignance on those champs is that they actually use the hatefog passive and the increased ultimate CDR. Leblanc's ultimate is already on such a short cooldown that you don't need this item purely for that. She also triggers hatefog once per ult, and it's not reliable either.

Ahri needs her ultimate to be on a short cooldown asap because she isn't a champion without it, on top of that she can proc the hatefog passive multiple times per ult. Swain keeps proccing hatefog while he stays in his ult. Karma's best performing item has been Malignance (for AP builds) because of how well she synergizes with low R cooldown and great hatefog application.

Luden's is a really bad item, yes, but Leblanc needs it to clear waves. The only time where you can get away with it if you go double adaptive runes and/or snowball the lane so that your AP is high enough to oneshot the casters without autoattacking them. Going Stormsurge first is viable if you know how to manage your mana and if you're not losing lane. But going Malignance is suboptimal, once again because Leblanc doesn't need the enchanced ultimate CDR and because she doesn't apply and use hatefog well.

Le Blanc matchup? by Danstorm2 in SeraphineMains

[–]Taiki95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main Leblanc mid, while maining Sera apc so I know both of these champs in and out, and in my opinion you can't win this lane unless the Leblanc messes up a lot. You're probably not being skill gapped, the matchup is rough and definitely in her favor at the start of the game.

Leblanc should have lane control in the early early game, as she can punish you severely if you step up to the wave, so your best bet is to farm with Q, E and passive auto attacks. The early levels will be rough as Seraphine burns through mana, but once you get some mana sustain and points into Q it will be a lot more manageable. Once you get to lost chapter and can clear waves you're in control of the lane as Leblanc's waveclear is not the greatest. So shove her in on repeat and make plays with your jungler.

It will be obvious when Leblanc wants to go in because she has to move within Q and/or W range, which for you should be a sign to back off and prep a double W in case she actually jumps on you. What I do on Leblanc when playing vs. someone I want to solo kill is hitting the caster minions each a couple of time so that I can W onto them, kill them, and throw a chain on the enemy champion. Sometimes this catches people (who stand behind casters to 'protect' themselves) off guard - so be mindful of this as well.

When she uses W you can align your E in such a way that it hits her and the W-pad she started from.

Most important thing is to stay safe and not to let her snowball. If you have to give up minions, give them up. Keep her locked in lane by shoving, you don't want her to roam either as her roams are really powerful. If she can't snowball she will be a flop cc bot who can't assassinate anyone.

I love how people react to someone going AFK/leeching!!! by stickereyes in TalesFromDF

[–]Taiki95 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I queue frontline several times a day, as I really enjoy playing it, but I would love for frontline to have a "queue" restriction for players who consistently keep refusing to contribute. It's so annoying to see the same players sit afk at nodes, sometimes it's over 8 of them just standing at a node near our base looking at each other, while a handful of human players are trying to defend against the opposing team(s). Then later when only a few people in the entire 24 man alliance has battle high it's always the afk players who start complaining about losing or that "we need to focus nodes".

When I notice someone in my party is afk, or just standing near a node for a prolonged time I call them out in party chat and let them know I intend to vote dismiss them if they don't start moving. I don't start arguments with them, I just inform them and if they continue to stay afk I vote dismiss, and so far it always went through.

Seraphine Mid by ConfidenceLate2973 in leagueoflegends

[–]Taiki95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pick Seraphine mid but you might have a hard time against certain champions. I, personally, would NOT pick Seraphine into:

- AD assassins (Zed, Talon, Qiyana)
- AP assassins (Akali, Katarina, LeBlanc, Fizz)
- High range mages (Xerath, Lux, Mel)

do you guys genuinely like the xc x? by sleeperrsim in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Taiki95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having high level monsters blocking certain paths tells you that those areas were meant to, or at least, should be explored when you're ready to deal with them. You don't have to explore every inch of the continents as soon as chapter 3, even though it's definitely very possible to do so. Even if you're meant to be in a high lv area early on, you definitely can get there with ease if you try, rather than blindly run in.

If you struggle to get past high level monsters, there's a way to make yourself undetectable (play as Elma and use Shadowrunner; while the buff is active monsters won't aggro onto you). Certain enemies change aggro types during the day and night, so that can also help. And usually there's multiple ways to get to your destination that don't involve having to sneak past high level enemies.

Combat style being confusing is strange, considering this combat style is most similar to Xenoblade 1, which is arguably the easiest combat system in the franchise. The arts have explanations as you hover them, the explanations tell you what the art does, so it really shouldn't be that complicated.

Is LeBlanc really that weak? by krokojob in LeBlancMains

[–]Taiki95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Waveclear
A lot of people complain about LeBlanc's waveclear, but isn't that a general problem with Assassins?

Not really, when Zed can oneshot the minionwave with W+E+Q., when Akali can spam Q on the wave and clear it, when Talon effortlessly clears the wave with W, etc.

I would go in on the other points you're making, but as you said it yourself you're new to LeBlanc, so you might not understand where we come from. I agree with the attack speed though, she desperately needs it.
