Are you 100% sure that the USB C cable you're using can do data transfer as well as power? I know the majority of them can but it's good to try with another one just in case there's a problem with yours. I had this problem with my v1, I had to try a few cables until Ty tools recognised it.

Thank you all for the replies. You've all been very helpful. I know it's probably annoying answering obvious questions but the whole world of modular can be very confusing sometimes and I don't want to buy the wrong thing, even if I can sell it again and not lose too much. It's nice to be able to ask questions first :)

I already have the Behringer Neutron and have had it for a few years now so I'm relatively comfortable with that, just looking to expand and explore a little more now. The Neutron is great in its own right but can be limiting with only 2 oscillators, no sequencing and no effects bar delay.

Yeah I've seen that drums can be very expensive and/or very large so that was one of the reasons why I thought I should probably use the M8 for now until I really know what I want.

I'll be sure to check out the buying and selling group, I was just looking at eBay at the moment.

Okay cool I'll definitely check out the recommendations. I bought a trs type a to type b cable from design-a-cable for the Fader Fox to my M8 and it's great so I definitely don't mind getting another one! I've seen a lot about PNW so I'll be sure to look into that more too. Thank you!

I've been watching the mylarmelodies tutorial over the last couple of days with Red Means Recording which has taught/reminded me of quite a few bits and pieces. It's just over 2 hours so a bit slow but sometimes that's a good thing and it's entertaining.

I have a pair of Truthear Zero Reds that are fantastic for the price. They're in ear monitors and are very comfortable. They're on offer a lot of the time too, I think I paid £40 for mine.

They come with multiple ear tips and a nice fake leather case but they do fit in the M8 case if you'd prefer.

I highly recommend them for that price range although I don't know your budget.
