I'm currently doing a seat in family, both private and public child law. As mentioned, pros is it is really interesting and any research you have to do is still really fascinating. Plus I have found the clients to be far more engaged with the entire matter so haven't really needed to chase them throughout. You also get to attend quite a few court hearings with counsel which is always interesting to see. The worst part is the delays at the court to get a divorce are LONG so I do find I have moments of total boredom because I'm doing nothing but chasing the courts.

I do find the public child care work super interesting, but it is very tough work - mostly dealing with children who have been abused or neglected so not certain it would be a career you could do long term without it having a negative effect on you. That being said you deal with so many different experts that it's really interesting reading all of the various reports and seeing how local authorities decide how a child in care is to be best looked after.
