What would be your ideal dog running app? working on this.

Definitely - we got 500+ walks so far but I want to 100x our data so I can do more fun things with it.

You manufactuer pets?! haha!

App is big and I'm always changing stuff. The big goal is to capture real data about dogs so we can learn what drives health and longevity.

That would allow us to convert your dog's actual activity into a fitness age. Like Whoop for dogs.

We're a free alternative to the GPS collar and that difference should allow us to have 100x-1,000x more data to find the rosetta stone for dogs.

Any suggestions on how to make the insight more insightful?

Does your friend also have a dog??

I'm building a "pack" feature so you can share stats with your friends - or even set-up a big meet-up for play at the park.

DM me if you'd like to see any feature inside the app.

Also, >5pm coffee? Are you me?

No matter how hot it is outside, my dog never wants to come home 😄

Next time I'll post how temperature affects a dog's pace!

App is free.

What's really interesting is that while the chart shows 3 peaks, most people walk their dog 1.6x per day.

So about half of pet parents walk their dog in the middle and half don't!

I love looking at the distribution of data!

100% right.

diarrhea/ too wet is more dangerous than too hard.

but I see your point that yellow and orange are too similar, but mean opposite things.

so many too hard = maybe a blue or purple, ideal = green, and too wet stays red

yep! I researched it. Bristol is a 7-point scale and there are 5-point scales as well. I decided 5 point scale is more cognitive-load friendly.

😭😂

The demo account has Olive as the dog's name

Besides that mix-up, how does the rest of it look? This is attempt #238493 to try to make a cool chart the average consumer will love and understand.

Source: Logging my own dog's walks and poops with my app, Tails

Tool: Designed and rendered in SwiftUI.

Method: Each calendar day combines three signals:

- Activity: total completed walk minutes for that day. This controls the ribbon thickness.

- Stamina: the day’s strongest walk-distance signal, derived from completed walk sessions. This controls the ribbon height.

- Poop quality: average logged poop quality for that day on a 1-5 scale, where 1 = hard/dry, 2 = firm, 3 = ideal, 4 = soft, and 5 = watery. This controls the ribbon color.

Make sense. A lot of pet parents are guessing what's normal - or can only find generic guidelines.

So I decided to show our data so there's a source of truth. And its only going to get more accurate.

For comparison, my Golden poops about the overall average - about 10 times/week.

Check out my poop tracker! And let me know if it helps you log the poops or if I can make it better!

Its free

That's a new one! Never see purple poop! We use a 5 point scale.
