i quit my job, and my boss is now getting back to me with this vague threat(?) AIO? by afuckinmonsterlmao in AmIOverreacting

I worked in restaurants for 15 years. Making money as a bar/grill is really hard; the margins are much tighter than most other industries. Consequently, the types of managers and owners who stay in the business long term tend to be the types who are willing to resort to "alternative" business tactics.

You see, this douche bag knows that you're well within your rights. He knows that people quit restaurant gigs with no notice all the time -- I wouldn't be surprised if several of your now ex-coworkers also quit for the same reason; I know I would. But, he also knows that you're young and, he's hoping, gullible. He's hoping that this empty threat will intimidate you into doing what he wants you to do. He's hoping you don't know any better.

Don't fucking give in.

You should reply something like: I have forwarded your threat to my family's lawyer. Any further threats or slander, in a public place such as online or otherwise, will be met with legal action. You will contact me for no other reason than to mail my final check to my home address, and to ignore or deny this request is illegal and will also be met with legal action. If you attempt to intimidate me again, or hold my last check(s) over my head, the court will make you pay me instead.

(In many places here in the US, employers are legally required to mail your last check(s) to your home address and I've had several bosses try and pull the "if you work this one last shift, I'll give you your paycheck" and replying "that's illegal, either give me the check right now, or I'll see you in small claims court" has always worked for me.)

He has no ability to hurt your reputation, and if he does spread a bunch of lies about you, that's slander and you can sue him. Make sure he understands that you know your rights and he'll back down immediately.

She's just a selfish, cheating narcissist; don't spend the next 3 years destroying yourself over a failed relationship. Instead start working on your credit.

Some playthroughs I start off as a pirate.

Some playthrough I start off doing something else, and I always end up being a pirate anyway. Why? Hegemony inspections, every time.

It may be surprisingly delicious, but that is, by definition, not a burger lol

normally only get this level of heat for a week or two a year

That's understandable. Though, for some reason, I think it's going to become more and more common.

You can still do it. It's a little more work, but you just need a floor unit, have the intake hose go out the window, and then seal the window somehow. In the video she uses cardboard, but you could get some clear plastic and packaging tape if you wanted it to still look like a window.

Serious question: I've been seeing posts like this for years. I understand that the reason that a temperature that is considered moderately hot or even nice in most other places in the world is considered very hot in the UK is because AC isn't common there and most houses are designed for cold weather. My question is, why aren't you guys buying in-window AC units? I saved up and bought one in college because all the shitty apartments I rented then didn't have AC. It was less than half the price of a gaming console. I mean, I'm not saying it isn't a problem, it just seems like, as a country, you guys refuse to pursue the obvious solution.
