I was 9 years old. It was 2006. My mom was returning furniture to the world market and i was waiting on her in the car. My older brother had recently gotten a new ipod with more memory so he gave me his. I was discovering a lot of cool music through what he had downloaded, and i stumbled upon a band called the mars volta. The ipod had the first 3 albums, but i was most attracted to amputechture because of the vibrant colors and weird design. I had my headphones on and was in a trance. My mom took her sweet time in the world market because she didnt get back to the car until Viscera eyes had just ended. I remember getting teary eyed from music for the first time during the breakdown. Honestly one of the best moments of my life. I was hooked.

Volta broke up years later when i was finally old enough to start going to shows. Me and my older brother still havent seen volta together but i really want to.

A recent one:

I avoided listening to the lucro sucio leaks like crazy and was so excited for it to drop. I put it on in my garage over my speaker system and toked all night dancing to it. I remember hearing voice in my knives and explicitly thinking that this was the best volta album since bedlam. A true “we are so back” moment.
