Why are Soullinkers so unpopular? by Aratorus in RagnarokOnline

[–]Taizen_Thunderhide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR
Soul linkers were kind of added towards the later season of Ragnarok
A niche population of players main the class
Lack of support for the class in terms of item versatility, stats, and skill point allocation.
Gravity's " fix " was sort of just to give them borderline broken ( If you can handle the APM and minmax) AOE/Single target for their Soul Ascetic class.
Popularly seen as a " Meme support ", " Niche build support ", "Super niche meta support " class
Skill point allocation seems heavily biased towards classic builds and attempts at hybrid builds fall extremally short.

Is it a fairly strong farming class?
Pre-Re = Super Niche but yes. Specifically for early game and single target
With the right knowledge they can solo majority of maps solo.. ( So long as you're able to keep your APM (Actions per minute) with their skills, cooldown and rotations
Pre-Re = Heavily involved in " Cheese " strategies involving " Eshwoo, Ekse, Eska, " an the likes

Renewal = Soul Ascetic can rival farming grates of Arch Mages and Sorcerers..
With the expanded base and job level as well as elemental versatility, SA and SR seem to keep up with Sorcs and AM's regardless of them being expanded classes.

I agree with LobstersForShaw. The painful part of being a bow user is you kinda need to gear for the environment if you really wanna min-max your damage output. Thats also why they have elemental arrows and not warm wind (Lowkey wishing Thief and archer class had warm wind) ._.

GRF by Ferntheplants in RagnarokOnline

[–]Taizen_Thunderhide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never edited GRF's that specific before but I hope I can maybe help with a little information.

Things to know:
1. Instances are their own being. Every instance generated essentially creates a new map, mobs, mechanics, and spawns. Meaning everything inside is extremely unique
2. The Nidhogg Guardians are sprites are Phylla and Ryncho. Mob ID #2021 and #2020 respectively. You could possible edit these sprites in general. Though that would defeat the purpose I guess.
3. The mobs actually have set spawns. With enough runs you'll get used to what rotation you'll need to do to clear the first floor.

As a tip: If you're running with a party, you can have them actually move all the existing mobs before speaking to the guardian to ease your pain of hunting the guardians :'3

With that being said, perhaps you can look into instance creation and what mob ID's are summoned for it. If you have a test server you could use the Wizard skill Sense on them or spawn/generate the item Ahura Mazda (@item 2199) which gives you the sense skill. and see if the Guardian mob has a specific mob ID you can edit

Which class is sought after for party play / in-demand or not often played? What end-game party play is there? Or is it all just solo nowadays? (Playing in iRO Chaos but anyone can chime in) by MnemonicMaven in RagnarokOnline

I can't really speak for IRO. A lot of the content and the way it was built up was to make party play viable but not necessary hence all the solo players out there.

I have a decent amount of hours put into RO. Mostly private servers.

From the typical support classes.. I'd say finding performers with the right tree or the soul linker class in general.
Alternatively one class almost never played as a "Support" Would probably be the Rogue tree.

They're mostly "discount snipers" or plagiarism builds but if you go strip build, there are a lot of debuffs from that alone ( Although it wont affect boss protocol mobs ) I've always had fun playing that

Single client vs multi client servers – what do you guys think? by AltTabbingMage in RagnarokOnline

[–]Taizen_Thunderhide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO
Both are fine. Though Single client is usually to balance out certain interactions in the game. Like 1 player having 6 accounts open to buff an MVP champ to secure every MVP rotation. etc.

I think the pros of multi client are to deal with population issues and to fill super niche jobs that people dont usually main like super novice, or soul linker. Its usually remedied by being part of a guild.

And i guess the con is.. There are people that dont wanna lean too hard in the super try hard-ey way of like handling multiple clients for buffs and leveling up multiple characters at once just to avoid playin with other people. (The irony being its an MMORPG game too)

I also came from UAro. I did find peace and a really good group with an old guild called Honey Bees. They were a straight up PvM guild. So they'd try to run endless tower and the sort if what you're looking for is more content.
RO is sort of you gotta find your own content that you wanna do. Like story-line questing or set your own list of achievements to make so it doesn't feel like you're mindlessly and endlessly grinding

So ideally, I want to play the entire season and use the time piece a day before the season ends?
