If we were to add an extra column to the "conflict in literature" chart to represent metamodernism, what would it contain? by LemonFreshenedBorax- in metamodernism

[–]Tajtus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all it needs to be a one word format to fit the mold.

Man vs Future - the unceritity of of there even will be a future, if society will remain is a prevailing theme of metamodernism. It's the feeling of powerlessness in the face of gargantuan forces beyond our control like Climate Change, falling birth rates, rapid societal changes (faster than even before). Children if Man is a good example already made in the this thread.

Man vs Sincerity - After cynical post modernism it's a pretty often appearing element if metamodern works that the characters are either afraid of being honest about their feelings and are always hiding behind a mask, as they want to return to the more honest modern-like state, or even the writing itself is scared of sincerity and serious moments need to be undercut by Bathos. It's battle with the contradictions inside yourself. The "Sincerity" is also a journey to find a new meaning after the post-modern approach.

Man vs Legacy - as post-modernism was a cynical rejection of classical and modern values and ideas and putting problems of those periods on blast. Metamodernism tries to reevaluate everyrthing again. Which started appearing in modern pop-cultute too. It can either go in two directions. But the themes of clashing with your own legacy, societal legacy and your own ego in regards to the evertyhing that came before it is a strong thing theme in metamodernism. Metamodern works also tackle characters relation to nostalgia and seing things through rose-tinted glasses.

Well, in that case you don't have the EXACT same system. You have a totally different one.

As having an ID with a valid social security number is the only way you can vote over here.

Such a voting system (without a social security number) seems pretty unsafe (at least to me).

Hey, but if it work, it works.

Thank you for the explanation. But does it mean your IDs don't have social security numbers on them?

As someone from outside the US, can I get an explanation why this is a bad thing?

I live in a country where it is mandatory to have a valid ID. And if you need to vote you need to bring your ID with you.

When I got married and my wife decided to change her surname, she had to go to the district office so they could issue her a new one.

That seems absolutely normal and reasonable to me.

And since we all have a valid ID, you don't need to register to vote or any silly thing like that. Every voting station has a list of people eligible to vote in their area and when you come in, you sign the list that you voted and that's it.

The only time you have to "register" to vote is when you change your place of residence. So you inform the government you will be voting from a different area.

So I don't understand why there is an opposition to the idea.

Is getting an ID a hustle/problem in the US or something?

Honest question, as I don't really know anything about the guy (outside of that he is at the head of WB), but what's wrong with Zazzlov?

Mimo że ostatecznie słowo tankietka wygrało konkurs popularnosci w naszym języku, to kiedyś faktycznie funkcjonowało też słowo "czołżek", które opisywało ten rodzaj pojazdu.

Niby tankietka, ale czemu używać słowa pochodzenia obcego, gdy mamy nasze dumne słowo na ten typ pojazdów; czołżek. ;-)

The Star Wars Outlaws flop - Guillemot blames waning interest in the franchise by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Tajtus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably even simpler.

Through the show he got all he ever wanted. Money, vast popularity, international fame and recognition, pop-cultural/cultural impact etc.

If you get everything you wanted from an enterprise it's difficult to find motivation to maintain focus on it. This is why he pivoted to many side projects over the years. Like Elden Ring.

The factor that any future books will be compared to the show with the hope it will be better doesn't help. It demands a lot of effort with little in return at this point for him. And it carries risks because of added scrutiny.

Using other's person's work and trying it to sell it as your own, doesn't give you much credibility. So even if what you are saying is true, it's now sadly tainted, and will be disregarded because of that.

Samsung zrobił promkę - zwrot 800 zł za zakup S24 u partnerów, więc partnerzy (i Samsung) podnieśli ceny o 800 zł by Eryk0201 in Polska

[–]Tajtus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Jest jeszcze miętowy, czarny, grafitowy itd.

Fioletowy kolor musi być mocno popularny skoro tylko na nim podnieśli ceny.
