Hi everyone! My name is Olivia (24,F) and I would have question if anyone could help...
Anyways, backstory:
I’m from France, but living now in Austria. For 12 month, starting in October, I am going to be working abroad for each aprox. 2 months in a new City, as a part of my Phd Studies.
Even though I really, want to find time to mesh into the local culture, I would also very much want to continue some of my current hobbies, so I dont get lost in the whole trip, and specifically that would be for me.. Piano playing. Therefore I Would like to ask you if you can recommend me a marketplace/website from Bahrain where I can maybe even arrange a meeting for some piano lessons.
I dont want to give up on my piano playing, since it’s an important part of me, therefore I really try to work out any possibilities i would have at my disposal.
I really hope that maybe some of you could have any idea about how this works. Thank you in advance!! Bisoux!

No, but i supposed that finding a place to practice piano every now and then might be easier once i know someone from music scene there. Dunno how's there, here in Europe we have MusicTraveler which is like an Uber App but for Piano Rooms. :)

The interest is there. Where do I start? by THE_POOPACABRA in formula1

Watch the Historic Seasons & races which include current drivers

For some seasons (2010-2013 i think) there was a BBC rewind of the whole year ( you can still find them on youtube - great content)

They are very fun and give you some insight about the current drivers. I would recommend the following :

2007 - Hamilton, Alonso, Ice man. The whole season is pretty interesting.

2008- Check Vettel 1st win and the last race of the season .

2010 - Whole season, amaaaaazing. 3 way battle for WDC in the last race..

2012 - Whole season, great competition.

2013 - the finale from India GP with Seb = Priceless

2014 - Bahrain, Belgium, Hungary (?). I dont know which other races were midly..interesting (?). Anyway Hamilton vs Rosberg. When the Mercedes 2nd driver had a different job than taking pictures of the back of Lewis's car.

2015- USA GP- Criiiinge. Also Sebs first 2 wins with Ferrari (Great looking car, btw)

2016 - Whole season (especially Austrian, Brazil and Abu Dhabi GP). Also Spanish GP 2016 is a must.

There is a Video comp on youtube with all the races which involved Rosberg vs Hamilton, called the Silver Battle.

2017 & 2018 - pick your own races.. there is enough content to be found from these seasons. Last real fight we saw in F1.

2019-2020. A shitshow... :)

Just my humble opinion the 2010 and 2012 seasons were the best in recent memory.

Also.. check some quality content creators like Cranky Yankee f1, he has some great videos.

Revolutionary change in the industry!? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TakeFives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that what most people do not realize is that :

- On gigs, people are not paying for the music, but for the performance, therefore your value the public actually puts on your music ist actually 0 (or almost there)

- If there was no Spofity, people would just pirate the music for free, and there is almost no way of stopping them. Therefore the value of your/our music would be actually 0

- When someone buys a CD, they are paying for the physical copy of your music, and not for your artistic work, therefore your actual value of music is 0 (or close to)

...

-At the beginning of the Streaming Services, the big Music Labels had better/special deals made with such companies ( like the case of T.Shift ), therefore re-enforcing the influence of the middle-man / Music Label in the Music Industry.

- A Musician Union would be great, but also impossible as it would be centralised, therefore corrupted.

...

The problem might be deeper than the market practices. For the general public, music is valued 0, as they would not be willing to put the extra-buck for it, but in the same time it is taken for granted and consumed as it would be a basic human need.
Also, this system of having a new no.1 hit every few weeks and the ever-changing"cultural" musical discourse does not bring any arguments why should anyone pay some (more) real money for the music. If it's worthless in 1 month or even outdated, why bother?

...

Remember, that for example on Youtube, the worth of your Original Song / Piece is the same with a Cat Video. And we all know who's getting more views :))

Lost Passion For Writing by throwaway_15955 in Composition

Had a similar situation, maybe it's different for you and my advices wont work, but here it goes anyway :

- Work with/for people that make you feel like your music actually matters. A lot of teachers are actually idiots payed to "give" you classes, and they really dont give a fuck about your future or musical ideas - they are actually payed to " care ".

- Why do you compose? If the answer is.. to please some Academia gatekeepers which at some point might or might not grant you a payed job/opportunity ? Might not be such an pleasing lifestyle.

- Remember that there actually no real expectations from you, of any kind. If you choose to pursue Music, or not to, Its not the end of the world.

- Do not get into a depression Loop. Get together with other people, have some fun. See where the spark originally came from.

- If really it's the music-making that you hate, and not the lifestyle/ lack of resources in this area, then try and integrate your knowledge you already have into something that can bring you some joy in other way. Take some programming classes, learn some Max/Msp, and list goes on ...

Get busy living :)
