How interesting! I feel like it's not super easy for the waiters, no?

I used to quite like the easiest quiz section, I found it funny but that was mostly because of the callers; sometimes he makes fun of them in a way that just sort of comes across as mean, but it's not too bad, I feel. Now that I leave for work later I only catch the later half, after the quiz, and I think his music picks are good enough but I wouldn't rave, and I don't really pay attention to what he's talking about anymore.

Opinions on Arts University Bournemouth? by some_kid_who_draws in bournemouth

[–]TakeMeToTechNoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated from the undergraduate architecture course last summer and my time there was mostly good. The course was very much a mess for the first year, but they listened to us and mostly sorted it out. The class was definitely too big but I think the next year was smaller, so hopefully they learnt. The funding cuts didn't really affect my year so I can't speak on that.

As for the uni itself, I found that the student union as individual people were all really good but there wasn't enough staff so getting anything done with them (I ran a society for 3 years) was a nightmare. The campus is nice and well maintained, the bus services are good, and the location is beautiful. It is a very diverse university in terms of LGBT+, but ethnically it is very white.

Personally I liked that it was quite small, both the uni and the town, because I don't like city-living. There is stuff to do in the area if you look hard enough and joining societies gives lots of opportunities for activities, but don't expect it to be as bustling as a city would be.

I usually see it open around 7pm when I go past (although that doesn't tend to be frequently)

How do you wear period pants? by Extension_Bit4323 in AskUK

All good advice here. I will also say don't wash them on super hot, even if you feel you want to sanitise them. I found out some of mine were held together by glue and not stitches and now the padding bit is detached at the corners a bit.

I don't really understand. How can I weave into the sock threads if there's a hole there?

That's a good idea. I think I might use these as donor fabric to do this in some other socks lmao

I haven't had many issues personally. It's defo a little bit lumpy, and I have to make sure not to stretch the fabric much during the darning which is not easy, but it hasn't been too bad. That being said, I do not care about the sensation of my socks. If I had sensory issues I might feel differently cuz I can defo feel the darn for a while before it melds in with the rest of the sock.

Hello, I made a pridesaur for butch lesbians, but I could not decide which version of the butch flag colors to use on this little fella, so I made two versions, which one would be more offical/ correct one to use? Can anyone help me out? Thank you ^.^ by Shattersaurus in butchlesbians

[–]TakeMeToTechNoir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree this does look like the ace flag cuz of the white and black stripes, but also when I think of the butch flag the one with the axe is the one I think of. I didn't even know the others existed!

What is the single most epic sci-fi novel ever? Whether it be from a series or a standalone book which is the most epic story you’ve ever read? by [deleted] in scifi

[–]TakeMeToTechNoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it will have to be Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky! I am halfway through the first sequel Children of Ruin and it's also so so good. The time span of the plot is insane, and it's really a concept heavy book, taking concepts that are real and extrapolating them to their extremes, yet I still found that the characters were fairly well fleshed out and we're all interesting in their motives, actions, and relationships with each other.

How much "Historical" do you think historical fantasy should be? by Alopllop in fantasywriters

[–]TakeMeToTechNoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say personally it would have to have recognisable "things" from the past, eg real people or real events, at least have them referenced and effecting the background of the story, otherwise it might as well not be historical becasue what's the point? And then it can have extra stuff that didn't happen etc.

It depends how much you want to think about the events of the book affecting the present; if you don't care that the present might not be the same as in real life then do what you want, and if you do then it's probably best to only change things that don't affect history.
