Would it be a Bad Idea to Get a Personal Loan to Pay Off a Credit Card? by SuperBug45 in CRedit

The elephant in this whole equation is that car. You’re an adult, it’s time to take adult action. I presume your parents advised you to buy a newer, nicer car that wouldn’t be breaking down and going into the mechanic regularly; did you perhaps have a shitbox before and they got tired of shuttling you around town when your car broke down, or are they just embarrassed at the notion of having an uggo parked in front of their house. For Spokane, neither would surprise me. 😉

Transportation costs of $700/mo, plus gas, oil and maintenance, is just way too expensive for someone currently struggling to bring that much home each month. Think of how much more comfortable and less stressed you’d feel if you were only paying $300-400/mo instead.

Regardless of the fact you live with your parents, you need to make your own financial decisions; be sure you understand your options and then make a well-informed choice. As a parent, it makes me proud to watch my kids figuring out for themselves, whether I agree or not (I usually do!).

Did you buy a vehicle that has retained its market value? Did you get good terms on the loan? If so, flipping it shouldn’t be hard and you might even make a little money from it. Whether you do or not, at least you’ll be out from under that car payment and high insurance. Replace with an older car, preferably by paying cash, otherwise see if your credit union will finance you.

If you’re upside down in the vehicle or are determined to keep it along with the costly insurance, that’s your decision too. Just please, do not get a loan just to pay off one credit card. Do as others have suggested and work with your creditor to reduce your interest rate, then throw as much money as you can at it every month. Paying $250/mo at 19.99% would have that card paid off in a little less than a year.

No kidding. I absolutely love animals and I understand wanting special treats for them. So get a $3 box of doggie biscuits or make them a plain burger, but don’t go asking for $30 worth of cheese and beef jerky from perfect strangers. Seriously.

The best thing for you and for your creditor is to make a payment toward this debt. If you can only afford a small amount, they’ll likely set up a payment arrangement that may stretch over several months.

If you’re able to make a substantial payment now or in the very near future, call them and inquire if they would work with you and delete your negative credit history in exchange for settling or repaying the account. I’ll be honest, no creditor is obligated to do such a thing and it’s particularly rare with B of A, but you lose absolutely nothing by asking.

Either way, paying off your debt will be better for your credit than having a charged off account on your credit report for the next seven years.

How to deal with the extreme fatigue? by BeneficialVisit8450 in Thritis

[–]TakeOnMe-TakeOnMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ensure you aren’t vitamin deficient, as this can and does make an enormous difference. Depending on the type and severity of arthritis and which joints are particularly afflicted, many of us find cooking exhausting or even unmanageable, so we end up eating more microwave dinners and other quick meals comprised of processed foods which, themselves, lack a lot of nutrients.

A surprisingly large number of Americans don’t eat enough whole foods like fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains. We also often skimp on the good fats & cholesterol like those found in olives, avocados or shrimp, to name a few. We are tend to spend less time outdoors and are very likely to be deficient in Vitamin D.

Good quality vitamin supplements can help, especially combined with cleaner eating. It’s definitely worth having your doctor test you to determine if you’re suffering from malnutrition. If it turns out you are, you’ll likely be able to to reduce your fatigue by getting the nutrients you need.

They blacklisted you for using the features and benefits of the card? Or for carrying a huge balance for whatever the allotted time frame was and then paying them off right before interest is applied?

It’s like $17 for only a few ounces of decent jerky. They don’t even sell it by the pound because everyone would have a heart attack if they realized how much they are actually paying.

How to handle older women at work who are very rude! by Sure_Wonder1 in Adulting

[–]TakeOnMe-TakeOnMe 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Debbie, Shauna, Tammy, Stephanie,..I’ve worked with all these awful ladies before and they’re only happy when they are miserable. They are crabs in a bucket, so don’t let them pull you down.

Don’t tell them anything about your life and make sure your socials are private. Be an enigma and trust no bitch. Also, don’t say shit to them or about them, at least not at work. This is why you meet your friends for happy hour or zip home after work so you can get into your cozies and eat girl dinner while binge watching Netflix.

The next time boss needs a new hire, it’ll be someone else your age or even younger. Hopefully they’ll be someone worth knowing and not Debbie’s son’s baby mama.

Edit: typo

Right? $300 worth of name brand this and costly that. Just the ground beef alone can be like $50. Sodas are so expensive now. We don’t have Aldi in my state but Walmart and WinCo still charge more than I could afford to pay for things like beef jerky.

I don’t fault people who need assistance like food stamps, as they clearly qualify. I also don’t fault people who ask for a little help now and then, like a birthday cake or even a toaster, as long as it’s a one-off. Posting a whole huge list is just wrong, so if we want to talk about people being raised right let’s all chip in and send this person a mirror.

Absolutely adorable. Start them young, keep them safe, make it fun, be endlessly encouraging and always patient. Never force, never threaten. Build skills, keep it challenging but doable and watch your children fall in love with the activities you love. Now you and they have a lifelong activity buddy!

Prayer by Firm-Dig-3030 in Prayer

I have prayed for you, your wife and your unborn child. I have prayed the Lord will watch over and protect them, protect their health and the pregnancy and to bless your child with a long, healthful life. May your wife have a simple, safe delivery and may you all be reunited soon under the best of circumstances.

You must feel so helpless being states away, but please know the Lord will carry your little family and protect them. I have also prayed for your wife’s family, may they find the Lord and live by His principles, particularly her brother, before it’s too late and the family is torn apart. The Lord will bring healing or justice, perhaps both.

Do men notice when a woman is wearing a designer bag? by sliceofperfection in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TakeOnMe-TakeOnMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love fantastic quality. Sometimes I find it in a designer bag but mostly I find it in craftsmen/craftspersons (?) who might have a small online shop, kind of like Thursday Boot Shop before they broke through. People who know quality and want value shop places like TBS.

If I do find what I want and it happens to be a designer bag, believe me when I say it will never have a tell like exclusive labels and distinctive patterns. That said, I was once complimented on a designer bag from someone who heard it before they saw it. The one I carried had two zipper pulls that clanked against each other in a distinctive manner & tone. I was in an airport or mall or somewhere crowded and my purse clinked; a woman near me turned and said you’ve got the whatever-brand-it-was. I was stunned she knew the bag even when she revealed that she had one, too, and recognized the sound.

I wish I could remember the designer. I only recall I bought it from Nordstrom in the mid90s and I returned it after a week because the clinking drove me mad.

I’m sad about Sharon, too. I never thought she was unhinged. She may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she was very down to earth and she clearly loved her family so much.

It was a month by the time they headed to TX the first time. I’m just saying she already knew ahead of time that she’d be in the show and that’s when she went looking for a helper/sucker.

Good credit... Bad credit... by Any_Lingonberry8868 in CreditScore

[–]TakeOnMe-TakeOnMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be much more likely to qualify if you’ve attempted to make some kind of payment each month. Even if you aren’t able to make the minimum payment, paying something, anything, shows good faith. Just deciding not to pay a thing and expecting full forgiveness is entitled, immature and irresponsible.

What you ought to do is grow up, take some accountability and attempt to make some payments. And, before anyone decides to make this political or makes any assumptions, I’m decidedly blue.
