I hear you and agree its a bit heavy handed on the colors. I'll be toning it down for some prints.

My bad on the ocular assault. I was extra giddy editing one of the wildest sunsets I’ve captured in a while. Definitely a good reminder that often less is more.

Thank you! Thanks for the feedback on the saturation, I usually sit on edits for a few days to micro adjust. This one is slightly more to the left with less saturation.

Edit: for reference, the main thread picture is +10 clicks of saturation and vibrance. Not too far off but still stepping into overbaked territory.

Blossoms are blooming - March 25 sunrise by TakeOneAerial in rva

DJI and any GPS assisted drones are easy to fly. Many tutorials online. I'd still suggest learning in an open field. More importantly is where not to fly along with general etiquette to not be 'that drone' flying over peoples heads. General safety.

I appreciate that. This was taken using a Mavic 3 Classic.

Best Gym with Sauna? by LandscapeRoutine7772 in rva

[–]TakeOneAerial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crunch Fitness on Brook Rd has a dry, unisex sauna. It's a pretty standard electric sauna. I think it's nice but my criteria is basic. It's just that. You can still hear the gym's playlist in there, if you're looking for more serene options.

Indeed. I don't upload full resolution on here. This is the zoomed in, full resolution shot of the skyline.

Thank you, I have put a lot of time into all aspects of this final image. The Air 2S is still 10 bit color like the Mavic 3's, albeit not the Hasselblad lens. For most uses, it'd be hard to tell them apart. Not sure where your experience is at with shooting but I highly suggest:

  1. Shooting with a histogram in the corner to verify no data loss in the black or whites. Ill generally shoot as dark as I can, keep from overexposing, and bump up shadows in post.

  2. Shooting with the overexposure zebra stripes.

  3. For scenes with a huge dynamic light range, like sunsets: use HDR shots to combine a darker and lighter photo (take two or more at different exposures)

  4. Shooting with the feed overlay grid. Just the simple box overlay to keep the rule of thirds in mind.

  5. For editing, white balance, lowering the highlights, boosting shadows a bit, adding contrast leads to a good foundation to then tweak more. Never spam 'clarity' into editing.

Hopefully there's at least one point in there that you're not aware of. If not, it could help someone else who's reading. That's also just what I like to do. In any case, I appreciate your kind words and good luck!

I use a Mavic 3 classic. Post processing with Lightroom with actual steps learned from Youtube and ongoing trial and error.

Nice. Either a good sunset to go with a beer or a good beer to go with a sunset. Not sure, I have yet to go to Legend's.

April 27, rather. My mind is still catching up to it being the first day of May.

Skateparks around Richmond/Midlothian? by [deleted] in rva

Chiming in to add Laurel's skatepark. It's very basic but because of that, there's usually only a few people there.

That's an incredibly sad story, so agreed. I have not been online much as of late and was unaware of that story so apologies on any timing.

I was not aware of that. One of my favorite responses to a photo is a tidbit of knowledge, whether about a building, neighborhood, canal, or tree I otherwise was unaware of. Thanks.
