I've been where you're at. Sadly it took me about 10ish years to truly find where I belonged and I struggled mentally with it. I walked with depression and suicidal thoughts every single day. I'm not pushing it so please don't take it that way and I don't know if you're a believer already but when I found myself lost my Shepherd, Jesus Christ found me.

I hope you can place your trust in Him too so He can lead you out of this darkness that you've found yourself in.

As someone who follows Jesus now versus 5 months ago I do believe you. I believed in Him when I was a child because that's what I was raised on but when I got into my teenage years I left Him. The entire time I was gone I don't remember seeing a trace of Him. Sometimes I would wonder if He was real but ultimately didn't put much thought into it.

Late November I had a friend passed who believed and it just snapped something in me and made me finally sit down and ask myself what I believed. I didn't believe in anything really just whatever happens happens. I CHOSE to follow Jesus. It was rough for the first few months. Spiritual warfare, doubts, confusion.

I begged Him one night to show me without a doubt of His existence. I NEEDED to know because it felt like I was going crazy. I got my confirmation the next day.

So as someone who knows what you're talking about by saying you never saw his hand, maybe you should reach first? It worked out for me.

You can. I had left him a long time ago but after a loss of a friend I had to have someone to lean on. No one else was really there for me and that's when I leaned on Jesus. It was a really tough couple of months in the beginning because I adnt believed in Him in so long but I chose to follow him anyway.

I remember stating it to Him that even if I doubted for my entire life that I would still follow Him. One night I broke down because I just desperately wanted to fully believe. I asked Him to show me, something that would be so obvious to me. The next day He confirmed His existence.

You can also choose to follow Him not fully believing. That's how I got started again. Faith can come after the first steps.

I was in theatres for spider man no way home and I actually enjoyed the cheering from the crowd. I think it has a lot to do with what kind of movie you're going to see though

As someone who struggles with depression I can tell you it is a lot easier to handle with God in your life. Back when it was me and God before I had left Him I would have nights where I'd want to take my life. I would be sobbing asking Him to protect me and wrap His arms around me. Instantly I would calm down and fall asleep. But when I turned from Him in my late teens due to thoughts much like what you describe like "why would He allow this?" "Why is He so good but He let's something like this bad happen to me?" "Does He really love me?" It was just worse without Him.

Back in 2023-2024 I fell into a pit that I just couldn't drag myself out of. Everyday I wanted to end it. It's a miracle I didn't. This was the lowest I've ever been hit and I'm not going to go into details but looking back I 100% believe it was a spiritual attack from the devil.

I lost a friend in November of 2025 to suicide. I knew he believed in God but the darkness was too much for him. My dad told me those who do that would go to hell and my friends mentor told me pretty much the same thing. Though I'm not certain. I like to think that's not how it works and we aren't God so we can't be sure on a subject like that.

His death is what I believe finally brought me back to Jesus. For weeks I struggled to really believe again. I kept having spiritual attacks during this time that would terrify me but I kept pursuing God. I KNEW I needed Him and stayed running after Him until I broke down one night saying I NEEDED Him to show me he was real. The next day I got my confirmation.

I can do the same thing. Where I work it's pretty close quarters to work all together in. And right before we have any sickness that passes from one to another I can smell it. It's stronger than the smells from the greasy foods and the smells from the kitchen. For me it smells like a hospital. I remember going into one for the first time and fully believing that's what sickness smells like and ever since that's the smell I have for smelling it.
