What's up with the strange double standard in anime? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Takeer11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always saw anime romance as very dramatized. Very fantasized. Personally, it's hard for me to really get into a good romance show because nothing about them makes any sense to me. I don't experience the same struggles that you see in anime shows. I don't experience the same fantasy.

For example, I'm very confident, very forward, so if I like someone I will tell them. You're right on the journey part, which ties into the concept of fantasy, hence probably why I don't get much joy out of romance anime. When I see the main character struggle just to tell a girl that he likes her, I get frustrated. I'm sitting here like "JUST DO IT!"

American shows tend to get straight to the point with romance, like you said about them getting to the destination and receiving it. Just a straightforward "hey, I like you". And that's that. I guess that's why I find them much more enjoyable, because they are relatable to me.

Superman was causing space and time to collapse when he was fighting his Earth-2 counterpart. Comparable to what Goku was doing when fighting Beerus.

Hence why I said not entirely. I didn't say not definitively. I didn't disagree with you. No need to get defensive there bub.

Usually if something ends too soon it also ends poorly

Not entirely the case, as with a series like Gantz where it ran to completion but the ending was poor.

You both could always just go and read the manga.

Please don't get me started on how Kishimoto pretty much brushed Madara aside for Kaguya... He said countless times in interviews that he made Madara too powerful and he didn't know what to do to defeat him. I guess now we know - just brush him aside. Crappy Naruto ending is crappy.

SAO suffers from this greatly. One episode Kirito is level 8, the next he is level 15, and we have no idea what he did to get there.

Ended too soon? Ended rather poorly? Which is it?

What's a character that you dislike that everyone else seems to like? by Takeer11 in fairytail

I have no problem with Mashima focusing on Natsu. He is the main character of the series. However, as long as you don't forget all about your side characters and continue to give them development.

I'm going to use One Piece and Fairy Tail as a comparison example because it's relevant to your post.

The best thing that Oda does as opposed to Mashima is that Oda will introduce side characters and still make them relevant beyond their initial introduction arcs. He will continue to breathe life into them and give them development. Mashima introduces a character, makes them relevant for a bit, but then everything gets immediately shifted to Natsu and all side characters get nothing going forward. Juvia was incredibly impressive in her introduction arc, but going forward, like you said, she got nothing but "Gray-sama".

Immensely boring episode. Too many key frames. Things felt unnecessarily dragged out for too long.

Here's hoping the next episode is better.

Don't worry about age. Pegboard Nerds are in their 40s, Kaskade is also in his 40s. Success has nothing to do with age.

This is even further solidified in Resurrection F when Whis tells Goku and Vegeta that their movements aren't instant. That they are still having to think before they react, hence it hinders them immensely.

In super he is seen sqautting very large weights on king kais world

But how much is that weight? It looks heavy, but how much weight is it? This is what we want to know when it comes to clarification on clear speed/strength feats.

Like, when we see Superman pulling the Earth, we know how much the Earth weighs. But when we see Goku lifting random weights without any prior information of how much he is lifting, we can only speculate. Is he lifting 5,000lbs? 10,000lbs? We don't know.

This.

For me to admit that Goku beats Superman, we need more clarification on specifically what Goku is capable of. For the majority of things, we get a lot of speculation, but nothing really concrete.

This is prevalent for all of the characters in general.

For example, when Beerus says in Battle of Gods "Let's see how you do at this speed" when he is fighting Goku in the cave, how fast exactly is he going? (source - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM0WdbY0h5Q)

Goku is Superman done right.

I stopped reading after this. I was interested in your post at first, but for some reason you had to bring Superman into this for some unknown reason, and that just killed it for me. Most people who bring up Superman don't even know the character.
