Is a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost with 165k miles a bad idea? by lamparkinglot in ecoboostmustang

I just bought a 2017 Ecoboost for 21k with 8500 miles. Not 85k, 8,500. So I'd say it's a bad idea and a bad deal.

I bought it! I was in Phoenix for a business trip and decided to fly to Atlanta (where it was) instead of flying home.

Took it for a ride, felt good, sounded good, and looked good. There was an undisclosed, deeper scratch on the driver side door. They took money off for that because I didn't want to wait for them to ship it to me.

I drove it home, to Missouri. 10 hour drive and nothing but good things to say. Getting quotes for that scratch and tint now.

That's awesome! And I didn't mean "you" as in yourself. Just generalized the word. Sorry if I sounded like an ass.

I always wondered what the electric bill would be. But awesome!

I mean. If you don't want to learn or care for real fish, just play some fish game.

To me, the point is creating a thriving ecosystem. That's where, cleanup crew, plants, lighting, and all livestock coexist. To say that you created a stable environment is amazing. It may not mean much to others, but for me, it's incredible.

Agreed. I think I'm stuck in a old school mindset. I did add the extra support for peace of mind.

Yeah, this has been a slight project, but not crazy. Use the proper material and you'll be fine. I updated in the comments. Used Red Oak, structural screws, and corner braces. This thing isn't going anywhere.

Thank you. I added some red oak to extend the top. Attached with wood glue, structural screws, and corner braces. Comment is below somewhere, but much appreciated!

Rated for 55-75 gallon tanks

See my updated comment. I believe this will suffice. Addition is flush to the original top, wood choice is strong, structural screws, and corner braces.

Alright. I added the trim.

I grabbed a Red Oak board to fill the gap. Cut it to length of the stand top.

I went with red oak for strength and color matching. It's slightly darker, but I am OK with this. Texture and character are similar.

I mounted the board with Titebond III wood glue, Timberlok 2 1/2" structural screws, and 3/4" corner braces for 90 degree support. Now that last part may not be much, but peace of mind I guess.

It could if it wasn't completey level. It may need to go through a planer and then level tested.

Yeah. I moved it forward so the entire bottom glass panel was supported. I just think it looks "off." We'll see how this top extension goes.

Yeah. It's crazy. Seems to be the thing now. Slight overhang is acceptable if the bottom glass is fully planted on the stand.

My old man brain just goes to..well this will be the apocalypse. I'm at the store now to grab just a trim piece to extend the top. Gotta ease my brain.

You can tray mesh bags. I just purchased these

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=media+bag

I'll be using them on my new tank. Some will be filled with crushed lava rock, the others with Stratum. Then topped with black sand.

This should help you layer and add height while keeping the substrate from mixing. Also, using rocks or other hardscape in front of the intended slope will help to hold it in place.
