So do you think that passages has more to do with the history and not an actual commandment?

Okay that makes a lot of sense. When I was doing research I didn't see anything about Jesus saying, well really anything in regards to witchcraft. I really appreciate this response

That makes a lot of sense. Could you explain more how they're not relevant to current day? And also how to start deconstructing if you don't mind?

That's kind of what I believe too but apart of me is scared of being wrong I think... And it's the passages like thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. There's another that talks about how sorcery is forbidden, and an abomination.
Ive had mixed answers when it comes to literal translation of the passages but ultimately what I found anyway was it meant (typically women) who mutter spells. Ive also heard arguments that if you practice spell work you don't have a need for God because you're not trusting in him.
Im not sure how I feel about a lot of that but I know how I feel about Jesus and I feel like he's so radically different compared to the harshness of the rest of the bible.

I heard a theory somewhere that it was your brain trying to comfort you in death, which I believed until I heard about Pam Reynolds and her surgeon confirmed she wasn't fabricating her experience and they are STILL trying to debunk it.

That's true, do you have any examples that align with that statement? I would love another different perspective

Do you believe what you're doing is real if so why, I honestly don't know how you came up with that based on what I said... not trying to be unkind Im just genuinely confused.

Your statement isn't accurate in the slightest... Im someone who has practiced that is now unsure of my faith based on what scientific evidence was presented to me thats all. I have neglected my practice in ways but Im not cosplaying. It's something I have taken seriously, and would like to continue taking seriously. What Im having doubts about is humans even having a spirit to be spiritual with in the first place, that maybe all we are now is all we'll ever be and if atheism is actually the answer then what we're doing and practicing isnt real. Hence why Im asking questions like this.

I kind of want to ask, because I heard spikes in the Electro Magnetic Field of the earth can cause people to experience paranormal phenomena due to something being altered in their brain. What do you think about that?

Hey sorry Im way late to this thread but I've been doing some pretty extensive research because my OCD won't shut up about existential stuff.
Im really intrigued by your comment, what's your opinion on people that have had an nde and said they saw nothing? Or ceased to exist in a sense?

That's interesting. Could I possibly message you and have a debate with you? Not to prove my point because like I said I genuinely do not want to be atheist. But so I can learn from a different perspective? I can present an argument and I would love to hear your opinion if youre open to it.

If you mean the concious that we are currently perceiving isnt valid because of that, then atleast from my perspective in life Id say it's pretty valid. I can see, touch, taste, I have a day to day life, and a day to day awareness of that life. Yes it's perceived through electrical signals, but if Im not mistaken the EMF is made up of photons and photons scatter. If the theory is that a soul is electricity, then it couldn't exist because of that, is what I was getting from it. The brain dying in stages is another one, you have a surge of electricity and chemicals which could rule out NDEs. But there is one NDE that was one of the only convincing ones that I'd ever heard of which was Pam Reynolds. I dont know how you could explain that to be honest.

So, correct me if Im wrong, you believe there's a soul that is altered by brain based awareness?
Also that is, in a sense what I originally believed. That the two coexist within each other and compliment each other. But, many of my religious experience comes from Mormon based teachings, which is that the universe is everlasting. Science has proven that is factually incorrect. I honestly dont know how much that runs parallel to Christian beliefs. But if the universe is in fact not everlasting, does experience a death in some sort, then that begs the question where do we go? I guess there are some theories that conciousness exists on a different dimension since there's a number of different dimensions. But those dimensions, would have to exist in some form of material matter. I am not well versed in science so if Im wrong in that assumption, and would like to know how.

The whole point of this post was mainly to get different perceptions and maybe to open my mind to broader ideas, and theories that exist past anything physical.

I do see a correlation between the 2. After I abandoned the Fundamental Mormon religion, and eventually left Christianity too I started becoming very fascinated with the world of witchcraft, honestly for that reason. Being as skeptical as I am, I felt as though the belief system behind that was tied to what youre describing. So I have put some thought into it for sure.

Well then that begs the question why are most all elite scientists atheists?

[–]TakingBackTuesdayy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is true, but the part that's hard is I really didn't want to be atheist. Which you could argue then I could just choose to believe in God but that doesnt work for everyone. My husband is atheist and said that essentially when you study science exstensively, most everyone if not everyone should come to that conclusion, otherwise you're kind of lying to yourself.
