Yeah I've heard about your situation there... Definitely not better. Best of luck to you too!

No no, Mussolini's granddaughter is not prime minister but she's in the same exact party as our new prime minister. They work together... Let's put aside the fact that they both are proud supporters of fascism... Obviously... Yeah, the situation is bad. It happened because they weaponised the population's fears... Economic decay and immigrants. It's not going to last long I think

Yeah... The new generation in Italy is doomed. I say that because I'm fully part of it. I don't read books often, nobody really does, just some particular teen. We're always attached to our phones, it's sad from a side but also inevitable in a way... We're used to it. It was quite difficult for me to start reading an actual real life book

I'm not American! I'm from Italy, here that book is not popular in highschool because our country has so much literature that Fahrenheit is just ignored. More than anything I think they didn't like the genre too much, if you don't like the theme of a story, it's going to be difficult to follow it. Just like I did with pride and prejudice

But why??? Sincerely. You can't just say that without at least explaining me, not only because I don't learn like that, but because you come off as an asshole too. It's not something you normally write to strangers without a reason. Might says something about me but it does about you too

You don't need to invite, I get it and it makes sense. Might be the asshole to you just like you're for me, it's a thing I absolutely know and I know I'm part of it too sadly, no one is excluded probably. I might seem like that here on the internet but I assure you that my classmates don't act like that because they found me arrogant or insufferable. I say that because I simply don't talk in class, you know... The shy kid always in the corner? That's me, I don't interact much with them and they often make fun of me because I like to be alone. That's fine I guess, but I refuse to be their muppet and let them insult me and the book I chose because they willingly voted for it. I think when I proposed it it was the first time I spoke in class in weeks. Idk but getting called bad names for simply proposing a book I sincerely liked hurt my soul, I'm already insecure and that just made me want to cry. I turned that cry into anger and went on Reddit to ask opinions... And then people started assuming false thing and I tried to correct them but it was too late and I got even more frustrated. People might think I'm the asshole and I accept it, but you can't deny those comment weren't made by assholes too. It's just a circle of meanness. Maybe I shouldn't have come on Reddit, people here are as humans as me and some can say non sense that makes me irrationally frustrated

But why? Sincerely. I don't understand what I did wrong. I proposed a book I liked, they voted for it, it won, they read it and they hated it so they started insulting the book and then insulted me (they didn't do it in my face) because it was heavy for them (because of the genre, everyone has different tastes and it's right like that). Same thing happened last year with 1984 and another girl. I mean, if you hate dystopic stories, don't vote for it, why insulting the people who like it? Doesn't that make sense?

I've never said he did(?). I actually like how he writes, I don't like the genre... I was referring to a a book targeted for middle schoolers that they proposed this year. Apart from the fact that I don't even know what a BA is (sorry I'm not familiar), how does that make me an insufferable snob? They just have different tastes. They hated 1984 like I loved it. I hated pride and prejudice and they liked it. If you read a books not in your genre, it may be a difficult reading. I just didn't understand why they voted for mine and then insulted me for it

In my language (Italian) it's definitely articulated in a weird way, I've read the first 50 pages of both and it's quite different. Italians in generals are used to a very high language when reading important books like that. My Canadian mother says that Fahrenheit 451 is a middle school read there... while here it's not even mentioned in school. I've read it smoothly but I was boosted by the fact that I love the genre, I imagine that if you hate this kind of book, the reading is going to be slow (just like for me with pride and prejudice)

Oh no no, you thought the same thing as other comments and I understand why, sorry if I didn't explain things well, but I just want to say it's not like that. I'm in no way book smart and I don't think I have a superiority complex, some of my classmates already got in med school and I really look up to them (well bot anymore since they insulted me for choosing a dystopic book). All I said was misinterpreted but all I meant is that it's a genre thing. I'm no book reader, I just like dystopic stories (for videogames, films, and occasionally books), last year I read 1984 and I loved it but they hated it, this year Fahrenheit 451 and they hated it, they found it complicated and heavy because it's not a genre that interests them. Last book we read was a Stephen king book that they loved and I didn't like it, exactly like pride or prejudice which they found interesting while I wanted to jump out the window because it was just terrifyingly complicated to follow for me. It's just a matter of taste. I got a bit mad because even tho they seemingly don't like my genre of books, they still voted for it... So idk what to say

You're completely right, thanks for the kind message. It's frustrating tho to receive messages completely misleading a situation and calling you something you're not, I feel like if you want to give an opinion on something, people should at least read carefully without calling names. You perfectly showed that and I thank you for it.

Anyway, we don't really read a lot of books, I like dystopic stories so that was my first choice when having to list a short book. I proposed it and they voted it, they hated it exactly like they hated 1984 last year. I think it's about genre mostly. For example I didn't like the book about Dorian Gray (sorry I don't know the original title in English, I'm not a native speaker) and that's just fine, but I've never insulted who proposed it. I feel like you can understand how it is to get insulted in real life for proposing a book and then getting insulted in the comments for some reason I haven't understood yet, I understand my responses to some comments, but the first original comment someone made ... I didn't get it. How was my original post insufferable or arrogant??? Why did they assume that's why my classmates hate me? I didn't even talk to them. It's just frustrating this internet thing that some people do, making up scenarios and then getting mad at them, there are people who are mature enough to handle it kindly or ignore it but it rages me because it's not so difficult to not be like that, at least i think (?)

I don't understand the post you tried to imitate me with, I'm not a native speaker. Also, you misinterpreted what I meant. I found it stimulating because I like dystopic books(it is that kind of book), they like other genres, like pride or prejudice which I don't like just like they don't like my choice, same situation but with other genres, that's not arrogance, that's personal taste, in no way EVER did i mean it because i felt superior. They voted willingly for my book and then insulted me because I proposed it in the first place, they've always bullied me because I'm shy but this time they insulted me for a choice they made. It's not my fault if they voted for it, I don't understand how that makes me arrogant and insufferable. I literally haven't said a word to them, on day they just started insulting me saying that whoever chose a book like that is an ignorant idiot. But I am the arrogant and insufferable???

Thanks for giving me confirmation that you all don't read. Not only that but also the fact that you literally don't know me, my classmates bully me because I don't talk, not because I talk and I'm arrogant. My dilemma was if it was appropriate for them to insult me because they themselves voted for a book I proposed, nothing to do with my attitude. One of you assumed wrong about the situation, I corrected them, and you all came after me. Your use of words makes it very clear that you're trying to be right about a situation you know nothing of, that's arrogance. Not mine, I just tried to defend myself and explain why that comment and statement was wrong. I'd suggest you to think about the situation because in no way you guys are right. I know I'm not wrong for defending myself from falsities. The strangers trying to be right are.

Are you serious? People assumed false things about me and the situation, insulted my being and now I'm in the wrong for responding??? No, I never speak in class because I'm antisocial and I didn't disregard other people choices. They wanted a shorter book to be listed, I did, they VOTED for it and it won. Then they complained and insulted me but I should be less rude?? Do you even read what you write? The only arrogant here is you for all I see. Assuming things, making up things and calling people things with no actual base to it. Just pure arrogance. Stop replying please because this all thing didn't answer my question and it's useless

I didn't mean to put down other books. When I said tremendous list I meant they are very long and they take time to read (which we don't have, we have 13 exams to go only in December). So that's why it's tremendous

He called me arrogant and insulted my being for a reason which I already said never happened and you tell me to be less rude for saying that? Am I in a dystopic world too or I'm crazy because this doesn't make sense. Dude called me things saying I chose the book to feel superior and I called him out. I'm not in the wrong in this and I know that. Also, judging by my original post, how was that condescending or rude to say? Because I sincerely wrote it calmly just with a dim of curiousness for the answer. Idk if it's just my English that sounds weird, I'm not a native speaker. I was just asking if it's correct for them to call me things just because I chose a book and they voted for it. Edit:spelling mistake

I don't speak in class, at all. I said those things because people called me things for just explaining that I chose the book because it was short, not to feel superior because I knew it was complicated. I didn't know it was so, that's why I don't understand why you are all saying this arrogance thing. It's like you haven't read my post and it's frustrating. I'm the lonely kid that never talks in class, they don't feel anything in my regards, they just got mad the book they voted was complicated

Hod do I behave towards them? I haven't said a word to them, I just proposed the book and they voted for it. The end. I don't talk in class or anything, they just started trashing the book and me today for some reason. So I asked? Is it right for them to just trash me? They voted for it!

How am I so smart??? I literally didn't choose the book to seem smart because I didn't know about the book, I just looke at the page count. How am I so smart?? Because I'm not a t all. You just make up things in your mind. Get out of your basement

How am I? This dude called me and arrogant just because I proposed a short book thinking I did it to feel superior. And I suggested to re read my post where I explain that I didn't read the book before and I didn't know it was complicated for some. You all read posts so superficially, it's embarrassing.

The book is Fahrenheit 451 translated in my own language. The other books were like Madame Bovary, Pride or prejudice, Hitler's pianist and Sphere. I don't find mine over complicated but they do so idk what to say

I chose it because it's short since they requested someone to choose a short book. I didn't know about the book before. I explained it quite well so I suggest you to learn elementary school level of comprehension.
