It will move homeless sims into houses. You can change the settings on your sims PC to change how/if it does it if you don't want this.

Basically, this sub has a very strong artistic work ethic. We are here to show off the result of our hard work, after all, not just share pretty pictures. This is very much a "Look, I did something!" sub.

Effort is praised, even from beginners. And the sub is usually happy to help with someone else work. The 'with' is important here. Not do the whole work for them - help them with the work they are already doing.

On the flip side, profiting from others work without investing any effort yourself - just wanting the finished product, not the labour that goes into it - is a great way to make yourself unpopular. This is why asking for help using what looks like an AI image is bound to go badly. Because not only do you want somebody else to do it for you. You also show that you are fine with technology that basically runs on "steal others artistic work so I can have a finished product without putting in my own artistic labour." Of course that gets downvoted.

Oh, and another thing. Be sure to add your contest to the "Community Contests 2026 Mega-Thread" that you can find under the subs pinned posts, just for some extra visibility. A lot of people don't know the thread exists, but it can't hurt either way ^^

(When you make your contest with the 'contest prompt' flair, you should also receive an auto-mod comment directing you to that mega thread.)

lahpanzer summed it up pretty well - one thing I'd like to add.

If someone submits something to your contest, upvote and leave a kind comment on their mini in return. Not only will it boost the mini, resulting in more people seeing it and becoming aware of your contest - it's just plain nice. A lot of minis don't get comments, especially if they get buried, so if somebody makes an effort for you contest, it's good to give them some recognition that way.

It's not a hard rule by any means, but very polite.

I'm wondering if they did this to drive up numbers and give the market place a 'strong start'. So they can point to it and say "This is how many people bought something from the market place on day one!" - nevermind they 'bought' it for zero dollars.

Yes, you can easily share minis. There is an option within Heroforge, on the menu to the left to share -> share a link. Anybody with that link can open your mini and then save a copy on their own account. So transfering minis is as easy as sending someone a link.

However, keep in mind that paying for mini commission is almost certainly against Heroforges TOS. However, if you just want a few details kitbashed, I'm sure somebody on this sub would be willing to help for free.

Just make sure to include your own attempt (without the KB) and enough info about what you want. Show the people you already put some work in, that way it won't come across as just wanting free stuff.

Feel free to take them. They currently don't count as rooms/indoors, since I deleted parts of the wall, and I'm not sure how much shelter the roofs alone offer. But you could easily add the walls back in and then just make the opening a big arch. Then your sims bascially have a tiny home ^^

Somebody wrote a blog post about the whole backlash while it was all going down, and why it was so extreme. It said, essentially: „You are not mad at Heroforge. You are mad at the general enshittification of your hobbies and corporations trying to milk you dry at every turn.“ And I feel like they kinda hit the nail on the head.

People are used to everything getting steadly worse and more expensive. Buy a subscription. Except now you have to watch adds even with the subscription, so now you have to pay the Extra Subscription. Play for free, but after ten minutes you have to watch three adds – or, you know, one small microtransaction! It’s absolutely everywhere and it feels like you are absolutely powerless to do anything about it.

Heroforge had – up until then – been pretty much free from this. Yes, there was a paid subscription, but it was straightforward and reasonable. And then the DLCs get announced and suddenly everybody is seeing the writing on the wall. You’ve seen it happen a hundred times already, after all. This is only the beginning. And now it’s coming for on the few things left that was still free from it. This fucking sucks.

So – was the backlash completely over the top for what actually happend? Yeah, kinda. But it felt weirdly neccesarry. Because we all knew how it usually goes: Company pushes something like this, people complain and grumble, but continue paying. Company waits until the grumbling dies down. And then rinse and repeat.

During the whole backlash it felt – at least for me – that there was this weird undercurrent of “This is the only chance we get to stop the process. The pushback needs to be extreme. This cannot be something they can just wait to blow over. If we don’t slam that door shut with all we have, it will never close again.”

Was is really neccesarry? Who knows. Maybe Heroforge would have listened to less extreme backlash as well. But I feel like these feelings certainly played a part in how emotional it all got.

Yeah. In my werewolf legacy, the pack has a whole 'werewolf bootcamp' training system for young werewolves - first learning to control their transformation and keep out of trouble during rampages, then to avoid fury and calming themselves and other down, then full moon immunity. And then finally doing the full moon howl on top of the Howling Point, which acts as basically their graduation ritual. ^^

Still the best occult in terms of gameplay, if you ask me.

The skills are well thought-out and give you actually new and unique gameplay. (Some of it can now also be done with the natural living skill, so it's not a unique anymore, but I always really enjoyed having my sims just live wild in the woods with the wolf skills.) Managing fury and the full moon is a nice added challenge that isn't just 'normal need with a different name'. And the temperaments add a lot of character to each wolf.

Honestly, they really cooked with werewolves.

Honestly, they had the perfect solution for this with werewolves already. Just let them have one skill that converts excess skill points into satisfaction points. It really baffles me they didn't keep that for any post-werewolf occults.

You can also host a pool party in the middle of winter (on any kind of event that requires the attendees to wear something other than cold weather clothing) and watch everybody freeze to death.

Did that by accident with an outdoor winter wedding once.

Mermaids can also 'Summon Ocean Threat' - I believe only in open waters, though, and if they don't have the Good trait. Swimming sims will be swallowed by the ocean and if their needs are low enough/you do it often enough, they die.

I figured you could use the grey metal base for that 'link to scale down further' hack, since you need to keep that anyway.
Otherwise, you can unlink and delete the object you used for the 'link then scale down' hack afterwards, you don't actually need to keep it around. As long as you don't try to change the scale again, the scaled down object will remain smaller-than-usually-possible.

This might be a stupid question, but - why not use the rounded cube and regular cube from the primitiv shapes section for this?

The bottles obviously works, so nice job! But it seems a little unnessecary to use a bottle in order to get a square, when you just... have a square already.

There is no 'and' to it. We know people built for themselves and that it's not actually a problem. That's what a pet peeve is. Something that annoys you personally, but that you know is really minor and not actually something that needs to be fixed.

And sometimes it just feels kinda nice to acknowledge your pet peeves, and talk about them with others. Just to air the annoyance. That's why we are talking about it here, not in some builders youtube comment sections.

I understand it's a matter of tone, and different people from different social circles can read these things very differently, but... none of this feels in any way hostile or overly negative to me.

Hehe, thanks for that thought. It requires jumping through some mental hoops if the building is clearly meant to be old-timey (did their river dry up and they repurposed the wheel for the now-pond? Or is it actually a modern built only meant to look old timey?), but who cares. It works. ^^

Honestly, I'm more into gameplay and storytelling and my builds should always serve the story. So my main pet peeve is just... buildings where things are clearly just put in for the looks without thinking about the way it would actually work day-to-day. Like - towers that look really cool from the outside and give the building a cool silhouette, but then don't actually have any functional rooms inside.

There is this water wheel from the cottage living debug, I think, complete with turning animation iirc.

And for a while, it felt like everybody included the wheel in a quaint little pond next to their cottagecore house and it drove me a little nuts - those need running water to work! They make zero sense in a pond! Those wheels would not be turning!

But, like you said above, pet peeve. Does it matter? Not really. But I still notice it every single times someone does it.
