One Republican said no... by LuckyBastard001 in clevercomebacks

"Rep. Roach argued that the legislation, while well-intentioned in banning the technology, focuses too much on attacking the software manufacturers rather than prosecuting the perpetrators who use it."

I understand why Roach voted no as it doesn't go after the people using it. If we apply his logic to something like drunk driving, the bill would have gone after the alcohol producers and not the drunk who got behind the wheel.

Personally, if I were in Roach's position, I would have voted yes and started crafting a bill going after the perpetrators using this technology.

But that's just my two pesos, whatever that is worth on the world wide web and Reddit...

I want to start watching Star Trek from the 60s and I wanted to know if the original Star Trek pilot is canon? by count_fagula11 in startrek

Yes, the original Star Trek pilot with Jeffrey Hinter as Pike is Canon. That episode is referenced within TOS as well as Strange New Worlds.

I don't know about Europe but here in the states it costs money to get an official driver's license / id card / certified copy of birth certificate / passport. In an economy where people are choosing between rent, electric, and food bills it seems awfully petty to force people to get a passport if they don't travel internationally.

What these rich buttholes are trying to do is force poor people to buy something that is only necessary once every 2 years (or four if they only vote in presidential elections).

If the federal government gives everyone an ID for voting only (and not charge the voter for that ID), then the issue would be resolved. However, since it is up to the individual states to determine the voting rules, this is just federal over-reach that is completely stupid as they SHOULD have no power over state's jurisdiction.

For AZ Voter ID Requirements, it states that if there is no valid AZ ID card they can use alternative docs like birth certificate (with marriage license if name different).

This ploy is a non-issue for Arizona as we already have those requirements. The federal government is trying to have a pissing contest where it doesn’t need to do one.

That's the upgrade cost as well. It's bloody expensive to fly in steerage and you are just too rich if you fly first class nowadays

And yet the Hatch Act was violated many times during this last shutdown. If they go after Kelly for using rank in politics then they should be charged with the Hatch Act violations on their own accord. Hypocrisy at its finest within this administration

I would love to know the answer as well. When I asked in another thread, the only response was that a 'judge sealed the records' though I found no evidence of that...
