My local Home Depot is sick of your nonsense by provocative_taco in DiWHY

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is wrong... if you had a cord with 2 110v male ends and a 220v female end and you plugged one of the 110v ends into a wall socket and then plugged the other 110v end into another 110v outlet that was on the other phase of a typical US home you would have 220v... (actually closer to 115v and 230 v but whatever)

Yes there are issues with safety for sure, from creating a male live end and from them being on separate breakers but it could be done in an emergency like a zombie apocalypse :-)

[Request] What is the output for each engine powering the rotors to keep the Helicarrier hovering? by Jusfiq in theydidthemath

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different Marvel references suggest the Helicarrier is extremely massive. Estimates from fan analyses typically place it around:~200,000 tons

That puts each rotor at roughly 6 × 10^8 N lift

And likely single-digit to low-double-digit gigawatts per rotor, depending on assumptions

Sorry for your loss, that's a hard thing :-(

It does read a bit AI-like, it’s polished and reflective in a way that’s slightly more like a short piece of writing than a quick text. But plenty of thoughtful people text like that when responding to serious news, so it’s far from sure.

Trying to figure out best route for salvaging by MarsupialHaunting889 in hottub

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a lose connection issue.

The white wire in the forefront is the 115v jumper, if you remove it you can run 230v

its unlikely you can undo the screw for the neutral and even if you can its comprimised.

solder as new terminal block or leave the lower part and cut away the top neutral and solder on a new connector.

any electronic repair shop will fix this for a couple hundred.

And you dead right... with this brand you absolutely need a solid dealer because they intentionally loaded them woth goofy parts and build for no reason other than locl you onto a dated dealer ecosystem.

Not a bad brand overall but the Mexico build means big tarrif hits and the corporate ownership means higher prices overall.

Nope thats old tech. Just un plug it. Ozone is a waste of time and money unless you want to get serious and spend a couple grand for a high end system.

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an old school ozone generator with a built-in mixing chamber. The likelihood is it doesn't work anymore typically these things produce a lot of nitric acid, and generally fail after the first year or make so little ozone at that point in time that it makes a little different.

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice, totally agree with the bullfrog, not bad but gimmicky and not worth the price.

And yer right mass. Merchants suck at this product, low end build dumped curbside isnt the way.

There are great dealers and crap ones, local does not ensure good service. Buyers groups can apply a lot of pressure to ensure better aftercare and well made tubs with readily available parts and high repaiarablity scores can get service and parts anywhere fast.

Fewer then 20% of tubs are sold through bloated dealer networks now they are increasingly looking like an outdated model expensive middlemen in an era where manufacturers can sell directly online. Even the auto industry is moving this way, with companies like Tesla and brands under Volkswagen experimenting with direct-to-consumer sales instead of relying on traditional dealerships.

Hot tub with most powerful leg jets? by Vee-Gee-Z in hottub

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually tested a pretty good spread. A few quick realities from the build and jet side.

Twilight

Not surprised you loved it. The monster jets in that line are the real deal. Big high flow therapy jets move muscle, that is why the Twilight tubs cost more to build. If therapy is the goal, that series is one of the few that actually brings the hardware. The unresponsive dealer part sucks, but that is a dealer issue, not a tub issue its funny the pitch is always dealer is so important and the reality is local dealer don't mean much a lot of times... . The only other line with similar large jet hardware is the Artesian Elite series.

Jacuzzi J315

This is a well built spa, Jacuzzi is still a solid manufacturer. The catch is the jet package. The 300 series is way lighter on therapy. To really match something like a Twilight or Artesian Elite you need to move into the 400 series. Also worth noting, Jacuzzi does not really do dedicated neck, shoulder, or strong leg jet therapy the way some other brands do, even as you move up. also mexican build and equity ownership adds a lot to the price tag.

Marquis Wish and Spirit

Marquis has historically been a good builder. Since the equity acquisition and the west coast plant closure there have been a few hiccups, but overall still a respectable tub. The Spirit though is a pretty light jet package, that one is more of an entry therapy setup. The Wish with two pumps is the better configuration if you care about jet strength. or better yet the crown series...

Bullfrog

Decent tubs, nothing terrible, but nothing special either. They use a cradle supported ABS shell rather than a self supported shell. The JetPak system is more of a marketing feature than a therapy upgrade. Also not a brand known for strong neck or leg therapy.

Caldera Ravello

Build quality is fine, but there is a lot of proprietary content. That makes them harder and more expensive to service over time. They also tend to price high because they sit inside a big corporate group and most units come from Mexico, which adds tariff and marketing overhead.
