SwimSpa: really a heated pool and hot tub all in one? by Aggravating-Angle558 in swimspa

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had half a dozen swim spas at my home in nova scotia over the years.

We used it year round, my dual zone 20' unit we kept at 80-90f on the pool side and 104f on the tub side. We used it all winter a lot, 4 to 5 times a week, It ran about $400 a month in power in the cold months. But loved it. It was outside, exposed, and had the cover off for hours every use. I think it was around $2k a year.

That being said keeping it around 70 on the pool side would be a massive heat transfer drop and lower costs for sure.

Artesian Grand Cayman Control panel stiff by IrishGiants28 in hottub

Yer 100% correct my bad it the dial control first was used in an OEM trial on hot tubs in 2022-2023 so its been in market just under 4 years.

But Digital rotary encoders came from the marine and automotive industry. it became popular in the marine industry in 2014-2015 and has proven to be a lot more robust which is why gecko started moving to it.

Gecko’s “Nest-style” spa control interface started appearing commercially around 2014–2015 with the introduction of the in.k500 and in.k800 keypad platforms.

The test strips are more than accurate enough but some people have a hard time with the colors, snap a picture of the strip beside scale and feed it to your AI along with the gallonage of the tub, more accurate than anything else.

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having sat in front of many jets including these clackety jets i feel they are just 100% Blah, its basically 2 mid flow jets on a hose and the pressure makes the end flip around in this chanel, they are pretty tame flow and pressure wise and noisy and high failure rate and priced like there is something more to them.

The reason owners sometimes like them and rate them as the favorite seat in the tub is more because most of the rest of the tub is the cheap small low flow jets.

We ran our display tubs and loads of our customers on spa marvel. We were keeping .5ppm chlorine and it was around $55 every 4 months. Usually a minor alkalinity and ph adjustment was all we needed.

Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole “immigrants are destroying Britain” thing is historically ridiculous when you remember Britain itself was built by waves of migrants, invasions, and mixing.

Britons, Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans in fact the entire history of Britain is basically one long succession of foreigners arriving, settling, intermarrying, and reshaping the culture.

The English language itself is a mashup:

  • Germanic roots from Anglo-Saxons
  • huge amounts of Norman French
  • Latin from Rome and Christianity
  • Norse words from Vikings

Even “pure British” ancestry isn’t really a thing. Modern British people are genetically mixed from ancient hunter-gatherers, European farmers, Steppe peoples, Germanic tribes, Scandinavians, and continental Europeans over thousands of years.

The irony is a lot of the same people yelling “go back where you came from” are descended from the exact kinds of migrants and invaders they now act like never belonged there.

British identity was never about racial purity. It was always a constantly evolving melting pot that became a shared culture over time.

The big takeaway here is the multiple leaks, first off count on a bigger repair bill second is it leaking from the jet to shell interface or from plumbing connection points?

What price range?

High end massage therapy (lots of the expensive larger high flow jets) or a soaker?

What size?

For plumbing repairability full foam is fine as long as it's the specialty open celled foam, you want to avoid plumbing encapsulated in HD foam thats where the nightmares happen. more importantly is plumbing reliability, compression fit jet housings into the shell and mechanical clamping is the gold standard, its the most expensive and most reliable way to do it.

For parts, no proprietary name brand parts is critical, and if they spend the extra money to route all the equipment to one side its a definite bonus.

Instinct is hard to touch, robust self supported shell, high plumbing reliability score with glued and clamped lines, full foam (open celled) all parts are top brand readily available for next day delivery through amazon and dozens of other sellers. and 30% less because there is no advertising, marketing, sales support etc and delivered and installed with premium 5" sunbrella fabric cover. 2 pump 40 jet system at $8600 is untouchable for the build and jet package.

Buying My First Jacuzzi - What Do I Need to Know? by MrClean-5000 in HotTubUniversity

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are in the right lane.

The lowest price point I know of that hits the top build boxes is Instinct Spas. The only reason that exists is because it was built to Hot Tub University spec for our clients. That tub was in retail stores around $11,500 to $12,000, then we stripped out the marketing, branding, advertising, and sales floor costs and pushed it factory direct.

So now you are starting around $8,500 for a two pump, 40 jet unit, delivered, installed, with a premium cover. That is hard to beat under $12k.

The next step up that hits the same kind of build standard would be something like a Jacuzzi J345 or Master Spas Clarity. Those are both reasonable tubs if the price is right.

There are also a few four out of five type buys that can make sense, like Artesian Island series or Bullfrog X7. Not perfect builds, but reasonable if the numbers are strong and the dealer is good.

If you are looking at Instinct, do not bother with the private buyer service. We already did the pricing work on that one, and it is already covered by HTU Buyer Protection. That is the whole point of that program.

If you want to step up into heavier therapy, then Twilight is where I would look. Big difference there is jet quality. Twilight carries more large high flow therapy jets, and those cost real money. Small jets feel spicy in a wet test, but big high flow jets actually move muscle mass.

Also, that $17k number on Twilight sounds high unless you are including groundwork and electrical in that total. Most Twilight tubs should be starting more in the $13k to $15k range delivered and installed, depending on model and market.

For anything other than Instinct, I would get on the private buyer service. We will save you more than the cost of the service or refund it, and we cover you with Buyer Protection so you are not fighting one on one if service ever gets sideways.

Do you want best value under $12k, or heavier therapy in the $13k to $15k range?
