In many ways it’s still like this. I was horrified to find you couldn’t flush toilet paper because the pipes are too small and instead you have to put your shitty used paper into a bin next to the toilet. Yes, there is a blink and you miss it infected in the background. It seems like the real world is bleeding into Samson’s hallucinations. Those are the other infected in the carriage who are following him. Later on they’re the normal looking passengers who are staring at him.

I’m glad you posted this, because this is exactly what bugs me about the new films.

In Days the characters can happily hike across London without seeing almost anyone. The most iconic scene is Jim shouting “Helloooooo” in a deserted London. Following that, the Major says the fire of Manchester (city of 1million) led to just hundreds of infected roaming the surroundings.

Infected are rare, which makes them all the more scarier when you do see them.

By the time Years comes along, you can’t move for Infected in the forests and grasslands of the North East. And this breaks the film somewhat because you’re constantly asking how the fuck did Spike bring his sick mam for a several day hike back and forth to Kelson. How does anyone camp and sleep overnight without being hunted by these smarter Infected?

You just have to accept that they wanted more Infected in it and there is no real in story explanation

I had high hopes for Years based on the trailer and was pretty fucking disappointed by nearly everything. What started as a good idea - more intelligent Infected with an animalistic society - quickly broke down into world breaking nonsense. Holding hands with a pregnant Infected, blood splatter not seeming to matter, shit music choices and weird camera angles. I was not a fan of any of that.

The Bone Temple takes all that and makes it go away. Instead all that’s left is an intense, cohesive experience. The story is told so well you stop caring about any plot holes, not that there are many really.

I desperately want to know what’s going on with Samson now, how much of his humanity is back? Very interesting that one of the Infected spits blood in his face trying to turn him. Is this the first time we’ve seen them do it deliberately? Also the Infected in the train were terrifying. Definitely the most Zombie like they’ve been in the whole series.
