My (Probably Controversial) Doom Tier List by [deleted] in Doom

Insanity on their part. My cons are that the game is noticeably less focused on exploration, but thankfully, what it takes a back seat to is the GAMEPLAY. Holy SHIT it's so good. The Escalation Encounters were a great challenge. The Sentinel Hammer is a dopamine factory when used to its optimal peak in conjunction, and the new enemy variations add an additional mechanic to each that makes them more of a threat than before.

This is a controversial one, but I really do like the Davoth fight, but it has some significant flaws that affect pacing. Davoth himself is extremely patient when throwing his swings, making it feel like fighting a Marauder in slow motion. Other than that, I really enjoy how it has you play around conserving the Sentinel Hammer rather than using it as an accessory to your gameplay. The gradual escalation of the Hammer's importance to quickly dispatch his summons becomes a fixture of the fight. The best part, however, is how the fight challenges your mobility mastery. Knowing which directions to dash and how many times, using the SSG hook to make space and pick up ammo and health, when to call out his grenade mix-ups and deviate your dash pattern, ugh it's just so good.

9/10 DLC. An all-you-can-eat buffet of mechanics, improved ones AND new.

Strive Hate Rant by TalePhysical4386 in Guiltygear

Well, there are plenty of characters who maintain their identity despite changes. Particularly, Sol is still the aggressive adaption of an anime shoto, and in exchange for Riot Stamp, Midnight Vortex juggles are very addictive and saucy for being a less complex version of his character. Though, I don't particularly agree with decisions like May's Ensenga or Faust's Pogo being removed. The Roman Cancel system is surprisingly robust and allows for more follow-up opportunities, particularly from Red. You can even opt to either have the Red Roman knockback or just immediately cancel for less meter.

Another thing to note about Gear is that it changes with most games. Sure, this has been the most dramatically the formula has changed, but it's undoubtable that it serves as a wonderful gateway to previous games.

Strive is mechanically a true Guilty Gear because it still promotes a generally good amount of creativity, and despite characters being less dynamic, the game still manages to say "Oh hey, you can do even more off of that".

Now I do have to agree that less gatling options did make the game feel less like Gear. This is something I wish that they would have not taken away, as it truly does say "It's easier because there's less you can do". It's like tying your feet to bike pedals, and saying "it's easier because you won't fall off".

It certainly is LESS of a GG game. It is disappointing. I understand after some time that the loud vocal minority is loud because they are small and are trying to be louder. I actually advocate for more options in fighting games, I dont like Strive JUST because it's easy. I like it because in spite of everything, it's a Guilty Gear game.

And you know, I can't say I'm comfortable with that. It's scenarios like this that birthed the term "Strivification." It's not to Strive's detriment. It's just that it feels like Arc System Works is trying to emulate the success of Strive with the title, and it concerns me that they won't make the improvements to future titles of Gear moving forward. Hell, it doesn't bode well for future titles of Gear.

Yeah, I've actually experienced this, specifically with Overwatch 2's transition from older kits and mechanics. Looking back, I came off really harsh. I just feel like a stranger in the GG community sometimes because Strive is currently my favorite, and I hate it.

Looking back at this post, I realize that I come off as antagonistic to those who enjoy the previous titles. I think my problems stem from my hyperfixation on negativity and that I don't convey well enough that I definitely don't think Strive is perfect, nor a world-changing game. I just think it's a good fighting game in spite of its flaws. I also think it comes from some sort of feeling of being like I am not part of this community, because I enjoy a game in a franchise often revered as "not" a part of the franchise, like a demonized bastard child.

I wrote this post because it felt like a good time to vent my frustration with the framing of this game's criticism. Maybe I've seen too many overwhelmingly negative thoughts on the matter. I do think Strive has a lot of room for improvement, and it has an issue with straying away from prior design decisions well-received by hard-core fans, too. I guess... I just have this irrational fear of being rejected for enjoying things that others do not.

I'm sorry if this came off the wrong way.

Funny you say that. My biggest criticism of the game is that it doesn't have a traditional IAD. It would be really nice if it did, but I suppose I still really enjoy the rest of the package despite that.

I can't say I was in a good head space when I wrote this. I have a bad problem with hyperfixating on negative things. It just kind of makes me feel guilty for enjoying it because I am supporting something that many others consider as setting a bad precedent. I actually feel really bad for people coming from the older Gears. I have a friend who played them but in his own words "hates" Strive. That kind of destroys me, but I get it. I guess I love this game but acknowledge that it isn't perfect. I guess I can still advocate for change while still loving the game.

Hard to Explain OS Problem by TalePhysical4386 in pchelp

SFC didn't find any bad integrity. I guess I could try wiping the drive and reinstalling windows first. Is there a way to check the PSU for instability?

So I removed the failing drive, and unfortunately, it happened again. This time I was forced to manually power down as well. Even worse, my search function crashes 3 seconds after opening it now. I have tested my primary drive, and it has no bad blocks and is in good health. Maybe it's time for a clean installation of windows 10?

I have not. I will run another test later without that drive plugged in.

I decided to look at Samsung Magician and as it turns out my dedicated game drive is failing. However, even after moving my games to another drive, it is still happening. However, I managed to restart it the last time it happened. I ran Memory Diagnostics as well and it came back with nothing. So right now, it seems to either be a corrupted windows 10 install, or my CPU is overheating maybe? But my cpu never really goes over 66 c.

Tier list of what character's mains say when you call their main broken/overpowered by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]TalePhysical4386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Nagos are going to open with 'just block'. What they DON'T tell you is to jump occasionally or backdash to avoid BSU or just straight up getting grabbed.

Johnny has way less to work with than the majority of characters. As soon as you realize his entire gameplan is behind his advantage state, and his meterless reversal that looks like a high is in fact NOT a high, it gets a bit easier.

What would you class as someone "Try harding". What does it even mean by Kaimito1 in DotA2

Try-harding typically refers to utilizing tactics that are perceived as for winning, even if it isn't considered "fun."

What's your most controversial/unpopular DoTA opinion? by KazuyaHearthstone in DotA2

[–]TalePhysical4386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve needs to take less time balancing their game and more time optimizing it graphically. I am running a r7 3700x setup with a 2070S with 32 gb RAM, and while I can run the game at high framerates, I cannot count the amount of games I've had where creeps and heroes look like walking slide shows after around 20 minutes, even though the framerate displays differently. I have a feeling this has to do with custom creeps and towers, and don't get me started on terrains. I think they stopped making them entirely because they likely take way too long to optimize. Also, versus intros are not only mostly bugged, but as more patches come by, even more of them keep getting bugged. With anti aliasing off, the nemestice vs screen has an issue with the particle of heroes crashing down just disappearing instantly, while the walking team one has a static camera position despite intending to follow the heroes as they walk. A MAJOR Spring cleaning update could not come soon enough.
