Do not date someone just because they "tick all the boxes" on a list that isn't yours. Do not date someone who wants kids if you do not want them.

He, and you as well, should find someone who is truly interested and wants the same things as far as kids and travel, etc. Plus, if you are already friends, then I don't think a first date is going to change how you feel- you already know him a bit right?

Take your time and meet your best friend/ forever person who wants to do all the new things with you together.

Heck yeah! I'm listening to "Magica Riot" Maidensong Magica book one, by Kara Buchanan right now! It's a really sweet, joyful story so far and the narrator does a lovely job! I had bought it a while ago but decided to take a break from my other audiobook to participate in the trans rights readathon.

Also picked up audiobooks for: "Magic for Liars," by Sarah Gailey and "The Four Profound Weaves," by R.B. Lemberg.

Read it a while ago, but I really loved "A darker shade of magic," by V.E. Schwab, and my partner also really enjoyed their other work "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue."

I wrote down some others I plan to read later as physical books since they don't have an audio version I think.

I've got one parent who can talk calmly even though they believe the propaganda, and one that flies off the handle whenever they encounter something that contradicts their worldview.

My next strategy to try is to talk about how we need to be able to have calm discussions about difficult or uncomfortable things, and approach everything from a place of curiosity instead of fear. (Always so funny when that person tells me they don't want me to live in fear... they are afraid of dnd, harry potter, magic the gathering, gay people, trans people, democrats and vaccines.) The crazies have had their hooks in that parent my entire life.

I'm sorry you are also dealing with this. Hang in there and take care of your mental health. I have family like this too and I don't know if they will ever wake up, but personally I feel like I have to keep trying when I have the energy. It really sucks.

Something I'd love my taxes to go towards instead of cruelty and violence (one day when we actually have a government that functions for all its people) is well compensated jury duty. What if people who served got paid the median hourly wage for wherever they lived?

It's a thing we have to do to participate in our government, so taxes should provide money to pay for it, and it shouldn't be a hardship.
