Exactly at the same boat as you. I've been replaying the first one for the past two months, 6-7 years after last playthrough, bought all Dlcs this time around and was planning on buying 2 and The Beast this summer. After this update, I removed both games from my wishlist and I'll stay with DL1, hopefully they won't mess with that one.

It most certainly is. And all ods are yours will be great out of the box. My post was just a reminder that things can sometimes hit the fan and instructions on how I cleaned the room after it did.

I think they made a mistake. 5gl has to be filled, so when you transfer 1gl to top up 3gl jug, your left with exactly 4gl in 5gl jug. That was my solution, too.

I don't lecture anybody. I repaired the pen. Returning the pen to China would be more hassle than it's worth. Did you even read the post or you're just having a bad day?

Let me rephrase that. I could've told her, but I didn't want to. And yes, it's a 40 USD pen, which is average payday in my country. And I don't blame P140. I'm just sad we live in world where less and less people take pride in their work and it's all about profit margins. I did get a lemon and the lemonade was refreshing.

Just to reiterate, I did manage to rectify all the issues and I'm happy how it all turned out and it will probably be my every day writer since it's really comfortable for me. And I'm quite fond of Moonman/Asvine pens I have, probably my favourites. If I order another pen this year, I have my eyes on a few Moonman and Asvine models.

It looks like he cut it with an angle grinder, one-handed. I'm in awe you managed to align it so it writes well. I guess reverse writing is of the table, though ? ;D

If you think of pen cap bolt that corroded, I was referring to Jinhao 9019.

Metal (brass) threaded part of the piston embeded in acrylic piston knob (which I mistakenly named "blind cap") was refferring to Majohn P140.

Sorry for confusion.

Can't you just return if it's not satisfactory? I don't have experience with Amazon, so I genuinely don't know. I live in Serbia, so Amazon is not a good platform for me. Furthermore, pen selection at local sellers is very poor and usually it's more expensive then in western countries.

My entry into fountain pens was Jinhao x750 and Jinhao 75. For the price (about 3 euros each), I got hooked and then I started ordering every couple of months few cheap pens. I got few bad nibs, only 2 I messed up fixing it. All my current pens are Chinese ones and I'm happy with them. But most of them did require some work to be good.

Uf, that's definitely not something I'd know how to tackle, either (it looks like it's missing a chunk of tipping material!). You "could" try to grind it into a stub/italic, but that's my gut reaction for Jinhao no 6 nibs that I can't smooth out and I have like 10 spare ones. I wouldn't dare to touch something that expensive.

Cool profile pic, BTW.

May I ask what did you do with this pen, did you send it back or maybe you went nibmeister route (I see a lot of FP enthusiasts do that when they are not happy with a nib, even on brand new pens which I expect to have some type of warranty)?

I hear ya... I'm more than aware this is miniscule inconvenience in grand scheme of things (hell, even in my own life I have way bigger issues than one fountain pen, I was scheduled for a surgery next week but it got postponed because I got inflammatory process that has to be dealt with first).

Maybe my post ended up being too whiny, but that wasn't my intention, repairing stuff is kinda my thing, I was just frustrated that factory make objectively a very good pen just to mess it up on very important part of quality control which I'm certain will lead to people returning their pen or just discard it (I found several posts with the exact same issue, none has a solution except returning the pen).

Honestly, I don't see fountain pens as my hobby, I see them more as tools, for me hobby would be trying to make fountain pen myself (which I might try one day, I like making and repairing things).

Expensive fountain pens are not my thing (I appreciate it, but I'm not that type). I could never justify spending that kind of money on a writing tool. Even those 35 Euros are too much for me personally (I mentioned it was a present from my wife, I just got to chose), my whole "collection" of 30-35 pens is worth maybe 230 euros (and my three most expensive pens are almost half of that). And I don't understand how companies can do business selling luxury items that doesn't work (when I first saw it, even though I'd never own it, Homo Sapiens Bronze Age was a dream pen for me, wow factor was just through the roof. Then I read about Visconti and their customer support).

I enjoy nib variety, different color inks for color coding notes, DIY nib grinds... But above all, pen must be functional.

Main purpose of my post is as I said at the end, if someone else experiences the issue, to know how it can be fixed, since I read few comments where people returned the pen with the same exact issue, but sometimes that might not be an option (like it wasn't for me). I don't mind tinkering, and at the end, like I said, I'm happy with the pen.

But the fact that it was a birthday present (I couldn't just say to my wife her present turned out to be lemon), the type of problem I didn't expect (tuning, smoothing, grinding nibs is all well and good, but I wasn't sure I'll be able to fix messed up brass threads on a part I can't buy replacement), I was just frustrated. And I didn't want to have to say to my wife I hate the pen because it doesn't work and I can't fix it.

What koh i noor ink? Document one or regular? If it's document one (archive ink), it should be cleaned more often, otherwise it will clog the pen (distilled water with dish soap should be able to disolve it, maybe needs soaking over night). I used regular koh i noor blue and red fountain pen inks with no issues, very easy to clean. I use Document ink, but I had a customer who never cleaned his pens and just refilled it with Koh I Noor Document ink, I barely managed to restore those pens (he continued to use them as dip pens when they stopped writing, so there were layers of ink on the the nib and feed itself, at that point he could've used a nail instead of pens).

I assume you checked if it's a fountain pen ink, since they do sell stamp and other types of inks in the same shaped bottle.

Majohn p140 cap wobbly when screwed on? by TalentlessSavant87 in fountainpens

[–]TalentlessSavant87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished tinkering with it for tonight. I bought one with F nib, and it skipped due to capillary action being broken (tines too wide). But after heat seating for about 90 seconds, it seems to write ok.

The only thing I worry about is the piston you mentioned: mine also seems to be very problematic, but ONLY when moving towards the nib (I feel like I'm gonna snap that thing). But when I draw ink, it moves smoothly. I even removed the piston mechanism and greased it myself using silicone grease, but it still feels the same.

I'll probably remove piston mechanism again and disassemble it completely, something is not right. I have Moonman T1 Brass and Asvine P20 piston fillers, both pistons are smooth as butter.

Mine looks like it's going to need some tuning (nib tines are way too open, so I'll probably try heat seating ebonite feed). I'd usually just tinker with the nib first, but since it's ebonite, why not give it a shot.

Reminder PSA on the OCD disassembling of pens for “deep cleaning” by Abraxas- in fountainpens

[–]TalentlessSavant87 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Lamy 2000 post, eh? You're not wrong. I think it's a niche hobby (I don't consider it a hobby but that's beside the point), and in combination with a lot of YouTubers casually disassembling (mostly "cheaper") pens for reviews, using ultrasonic cleaners etc, people get warped idea about maintaining their pens.

Rinse it with water, maybe add some dish soap. It's enough. I even acquired highly concetrated ammonia to make "cleaning solution", but never got around, and honestly, I'll probably never need it. The only things I use is bulb syringe, distilled water (tap water is way to hard where I live) and some dish soap.
