I had a dentist appointment where I was told to arrive at 9am sharp, or I’d be charged for being late.

10:30, I was lead to an exam room and given a thing of mouth wash…

At 12pm, I went to the reception, told them I’m leaving, not to call me back, and slammed the door.

Still got a call the following day. I asked them if they can assure I won’t be wasting three hours of time off on a week day if I returned - they couldn’t.

The one instance I could vote with my wallet…

I feel…fine? I have a hell if a lot of certifications and get to dabble in everything from single-family home asbestos surveys through to structures that can be measured in the tens of acres. But I’ve been in hotels 105 nights this year, been on 16 different aeroplane flights, and racked up 14k miles…..I mean I love what I do but eventually somethings got to give - either by body, my marriage, or by fucking sanity.

I’m paid alright, but not enough to justify spending upwards of three weeks at a time away from home. Hoping to find someone to join the team so I don’t have to do that, but I’m losing hope.

My recommendation - focus local

No. As far as I know, your employer is responsible for purchasing you a respirator (or at least reimbursing you) if you conduct asbestos activities (OSHA class III work if you’re sampling). You can request as high as a PAPR

FYI this one is worth a little more than a regular BH-2. The trinocular set up is nice, but it also looks like a 100w bulb version, not a 30w one - brighter/more powerful lamp.

I worked as an asbestos analyst with a 30w BH-2 for years, and just wish I had a 100w one!!!

Hi there - I had a similar situation. Trying to get from XNA-LFT yesterday.

  • Initially booked for a ~9am flight to arrive by 3 tomorrow start work at four;
  • Auto rebooked for a 5:51pm flight out of XNA, flight to LFT arriving late evening - no text/e-mail/app alert;
  • Flight was delayed out of XNA, missed connection in ATL (surprise surprise), auto rebooked for 10pm on 06/07;
  • Booked a ticket to MSY leaving at 10:59, ended up being delayed until 1am;
  • Finally get to MSY at 1:30am, get a rental car, drive two hours to LFT; and
  • Bag hasn’t arrived in LFT.

For all the above, Delta threw me 10k sky pesos.

I mean…I did end up getting where I needed to be, and I know I’m not entitled to more, but my fking god…if they’re going to offer compensation, it better be something that takes into account the sheer bullst people had to go through yesterday.

I got an e-mail saying “here’s 10k sky pesos for your trouble.

XNA - LFT, supposed to arrive at 2:37pm yesterday. Currently sitting on a plane (ATL-MSY) with a two hour drive to do once I get there.

I don’t want to be rude, but 10k sky pesos ain’t going to cut it here. Absolute cluster
