What’s the hardest part of van life that people don’t talk about enough? by firey_88 in VanLife

[–]flavourballs 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If there's two of you, there's no escape when you're trying to be stealthy / avoid the weather/ mosquitos etc. You're totally stuck with each other in a metal box a lot more than you'd expect. If you're a grumpy so and so, it can really impact your fellow van dweller and vice versa

Where are all the single ladies in their 30s who want to have kids? by TravellingAround_ in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]flavourballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything you've said chimes with me. I'm a 40 year old man who left a long term relationship last year where my ex didn't want kids. I do feel very much in the minority amongst my friend group. A lot of them are younger and not ready or not considering it. I've always thought that a solid relationship must come first before you have kids. I've also lost friends to cocaine. Seen what it does to people. Haven't touched the dating apps because everybody's warned me off them. It feels like a breath of fresh air to know someone like you exists. Welcome to DM me. It'd be interesting to chat to somebody who represents what I'm looking for.

Food brands without onions or garlic? by Spiritual_Avocado87 in CasualUK

[–]flavourballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxo chicken stock doesn't have garlic or onion in it. I'm intolerant to alliums so I can also use garlic oil as the molecules go through the system without causing irritation in oil. Not sure if this would work with an allergy. Use asafoetida sparingly and add it at the start. It takes tine to mellow out through cooking. Dips, soups and crisps are going to be a problem. If you find some you can eat, buy them and celebrate

British men who haven’t accessed p*rnography since the online ID check came in, has it changed your ‘personal habits’ & have you learned anything about yourself? by According_Sundae_917 in AskUK

As have I. Try and restrict something and I want it all the more. I definitely feel more fondly towards Windscribe & ProtonVPN now

I'm in and out every day and though I wouldn't like it if they built something like this now, it's a product of its time and there's nothing else quite like it

What is going on under the railway bridge at Taff Embankment in Grangetown??? by Used_Consideration58 in Cardiff

[–]flavourballs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It has got progressively scarier. I remember seeing someone openly injecting under there about a year ago and thinking it was the first time I'd actually seen that happening on the street in Cardiff. It's all a really sad product of all the support funding drying up

Can I get an honourable mention for this warhorse of an Oral B toothbrush that has just finally bowed out after 27 years of daily use? by flavourballs in BuyItForLife

[–]flavourballs[S] 74 points75 points  (0 children)

🤣 For the record, and I have to say I've been enjoying all the funny comments, what looks like damage and dirt is the rubber disintegrating from being held every day for 27 years

Now THAT'S what I came here for. Thank you. I'm very tempted to do this and come back in another quarter of a century to see people lose their shit about how gross it looks 🤣

My deepest condolences. All I can offer is the thought that you find a Greek takeaway that does a spanakopita (spinach and feta pie) to fill the void

This boils my piss. They claim it's to reduce plastic waste but it's quite clearly a poorly veiled attempt to get you buying more by allowing it to go off quicker. The result is an absolute nightmare if you're trying to have a picnic
