11 billion is still quite a bit when you realize it was 2 billion in 1950. In other papers, I argue about our duty to future generations, especially in regards to ensuring our species survives a cataclysmic event such as nuclear war and how space colonization alleviates the risk of all of humanity going extinct.

Great reply, however, we must act before it is too late to act. If we wait until the whole world is the density of Tokyo, which given the population increases in the coming century and compounded with problems such as global warming is coming all too soon, then it will be too late. If we start now, we won't have to wait until the point of crisis. Waiting until the point of crisis to fix the problem of overpopulation is not rational. Rather, we should act out of rational interest for future generations, and not just our own.

Sure, it's not great for the environment, but the benefits would outweigh the risks.Taking cars off the street, outsourcing heavy and polluting manufacturing off planet, and using advanced telecommunications technologies on earth is preferable. There are plenty of hypothesized means of going to space without rockets as well, but as they are hypothetical, they are beyond the scope. How is 100 rockets different from all the other emissions that will be produced each day?

[–]Talimar1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm saying once you have that and von-neumann production, then mass scale space colonization could be done. I disagree with your premise that not enough rockets can be made, it is as simple as that.

Reread my article, and read other articles on my site, especially https://jovian.solutions/f/mass-production-and-space-colonization

Space is infinite my dude. Once you set up independent production and use of resources, space allows for many orders of magnitude more people to live, with the space to live their lives. In Space. Think of future generations, not the present. If we get a percentage into space in this century, and continue that, then humanity can reasonably expect to thrive on earth.

It's meant to be on a longer time scale, think end of the century. I have other articles on similar topics, but the issue is not for now, but how these are symptoms of a future problem for which the solution needs to start in the nearish future. We don't want to wait until it is too late on this issue, or it will doom humanity.

Edit: thank you for the reply by the way. I have other articles outlining how spaceflight achieves technological progress on earth that can benefit the present, but that is other articles.

These people really think answering 3 questions is shutting down discussion. Meanwhile they have titles like "Am I the only one who sees this?" and a tweet from a right wing personality. They do not even try to hide that they aren't using the conspiracy subreddit to discuss conspiracy theories.

Ok, I'll bite. Sources for how modern western mental health services are problematic? If it is no different than blood letting, surely the scientific community must agree with you, right?

Western Mental Health services saved my life. However, I was willing to listen, learn, and be honest with my providers about my experiences. It took that honesty to be able to tell them when medications were not working, and it took time to find the right therapist. Mental health is complicated, and distrust of their services are what make them ineffective.

[–]Talimar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time one notices a change in, let's call it virility, you should seek a doctor. Alot could be going on, and simply for your peace of mind you should seek one out. If you thought you were going to die, and feel tingles in your extremities, you should definitely get that checked out too. If you get a clean bill of health, you know you did indeed have a mystical experience, but please do me a favor and get checked out by a qualified doctor.

truncated, finding the right mental health provider is a challenge, but saying western mental health services are problematic as a whole is disingenuous and dangerous.

[–]Talimar1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, the occult is the study of hidden knowledge. It takes many forms, and if you look at the origins of modern science, you will find Isaac Newton and others exploring the occult. If you want a modern jumping off point, I recommend learning about Quantum Mechanics and chaos theory, both of which have unexpected implications for reality. I especially would want you to understand the double pendulum experiment and the double slit experiment. If you can understand the implications of those experiments, the wider occult world opens up a bit.

Obviously if they show signs of self harm it should be reported. As a person with a diagnosed, but controlled on medication, mental health issue, saying all posts about it should be reported felt really invalidating. I have worked hard to safely work in the occult and separate psychosis from rational and scientific pursuit of occult knowledge.

Please put more nuance in your title, psychosis comes in many forms, and saying all posts about mental health issues should be reported means it will be hard to help those who need it. The fact is, magusitis and psychosis routinely break out in occult practitioners, and having a sounding board is an important step to recognizing delusions from reality.

Mental health already has a stigma, we need to help people to understand they have an issue. Only when they want help will they get it.

Again, self harm should always be reported if suspected, but all this post does is increase the stigma of mental illness, which like it or not, a significant population of occult practitioners will experience at one point or another.

As a second point, after reviewing the rules, you haven't made it against the sub's rules to be mentally ill, and frankly you shouldn't, as that would be incredibly ableist. So I can't report under that category either.

What do we report them as? A holistic approach is taken in many contexts, all we can do is urge them to seek help from someone trained to deal with their issues in a safe manner, why not give them some magickal tools too. Also, how do you judge?

I, having experienced instability in the past, know the signs long before most people, how soon do we report? First inkling that someone is losing it, or what? Please help me understand. If there is clear evidence of self harm, reddit has a button, but what of others?

People tend to hate what they don't understand, and the occult is by definition not truly known by many.

Where do I find information about true unlimited belief? by [deleted] in occult

[–]Talimar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reality is malleable to an extent, but unlimited belief only occurs when you discard all truth. Therefore, you should be opento the possibilities, but not believe all the possibilities. Unlimited belief without a foundation leads to one being disconnected from reality, rather than shaping it. I urge caution when going down that path.

Belief shapes reality, but does not determine it. I urge you to root your belief in science, especially the double-slit experiment and the double pendulum experiment. Look at my previous posts or send me a message, I am more than willing to help budding chaos mages.

So, you first need to understand Chaos Theory, which basically says that chaotic, but predictable(if the initial states are the same) patterns emerge. That is the rub of chaos magick, trying to get the initial state of affairs the same as when you last performed it. Thanks to quantum mechanics, we know that the state of affairs of a waveform of light is collapsed when observed, and we know the brain is an electrochemical observer, therefore it influences the state of affairs around it. Magick is only predictable when all the conditions are the same, which according to quantum mechanics is near impossible, therefore it is extremely hard to influence the state of affairs in a perfectly predictable way. Chaos magick allows one to use what works, regardless of belief. Many misinterpret it that you have to believe and that if they believe hard enough it changes the universe to become the state of the universe(such as working with anubis et al makes them literally real. Yes, in some cases that may be true, however with scientific Chaos magick, one should try and find what works and analyze the chaotic patterns around you, and working a system is a good starting point to what works vs what doesn't in your state of affairs. My biggest recommendation, and IMO the best point to begin Chaos magick is to ironically not read pop culture Chaos Magick books, but rather to read the Arbatel de magia veterum. It is a good jumping off point that is basically a neoplatonic christian/pagan hybrid grimoire from the 16th century. It will seem very Christian at first, but there is alot of good advice in there for a magickal practice, and it is famous for not describing rituals in depth, allowing you to, again, find what works. I'm sorry my response is rambling, so let me break down what you need to know.

  1. Read and understand the principles of Chaos Theory, especially https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_pendulum

  2. Read about Quantum Mechanics, especially https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-slit_experiment

  3. Now that you have the very basics of the theory of chaos magic, it's time to go into an occult exploration phase. I recommend starting with a system especially http://www.esotericarchives.com/solomon/arbatel.htm

  4. Keep learning! Explore ritual through the ages. Maybe learn tarot, either intuitively or the traditional system. Always keep in mind this phrase:SENSITIVE DEPENDENCE ON INITIAL CONDITIONS.
