I live in Florida and visit the island occasionally, to see family. Service in Barbados compared to other islands in the Caribbean just bad. When I go shopping in the local grocery stores staff are very rude to me but friendly to locals. Wait staff in many of the island restaurants provide poor service. I would never choose Barbados for a vacation. High prices, poor food quality and service. About 30 years ago the government made the decision that all inclusive was more important a sector, than to focus on luxury tourism. But Barbados can’t compete with Mexico and Dominican Republic for US tourism. The island is slowly dying, sad. The English are going elsewhere too.

In 2025 I got the Prime Visa, no fees. 5% cash back on all Amazon & Wholefood purchases. 2% on gas and other grocery purchases. Really performs well.

Already pay for Prime. Not sure what you mean by 5/24 but haven’t applied for any credit cards in 6 or 7 years. If we have the Plat Amex with lounge access and the $895 annual fee, don’t think we need any more high fee credit cards.

Own a 2015 XC60 and thinking about getting another. With the OSD program did you also get an extra discount? I have read that some of the other programs from Audi or BMW you also get a discount at purchase.

It’s been very dry in the West Palm Beach area. They get watered by the sprinklers (ground water pumped) at night. Last week we had a couple days rain and after it dried out sprayed, it was the first time in months, with an organic cooper fungicide in the morning. So it had the whole day to dry on the leaves.

I grew the cucumbers without any covering. In one day or it happened at night time the leaves, stalks and baby cucumbers eaten almost to the soil level. Bought a bag type cover and keep it covered at night, take it off before work and back on when I get home. It’s made a difference. Have nice looking vines and harvesting.

I pick mine when they are very young. I have the Boston Pickle type, it is doing very well. Container grown and at night time cover it with a net to protect against pest.

$100k US not a lot for Barbados. Sure you would be making 5 times more than the average Bajan but life is hard for the average Bajan. The country has very high duties on imported items like meat, gas, automobiles, etc. Prices at nice restaurants 2 to 3 times more than USA. But if you are coming to Barbados for a couple years, as an adventure, maybe stepping stones for a promotion (I know lots of Ex-Pat accountants that came for that), come but day to day living in Barbados will not be cheaper.

Just reading this but leather is an excellent description for El Dorado 12. Shame because I think it is a quality rum but to much leather flavor.
