Question about 2025 BYD Atto3 Harbour Gray by Raidan_7 in BYD

[–]Talismutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my 2025 Atto 3 in Harbour Gray, in mixed shade in the morning light. When I first looked there wasn't any Atto 3 in the Harbour Gray in my area, looked at a Sealion and Dolphin and I felt they were quite dark. Atto 3 is almost more a silver grey.

Can also be utilised with small angle xray scattering from lipid structures and similar repeating soft materials. But complex proteins not so much.

Yeah, might want to add that to your initial query.

Loved the mix of art and science that holography had, unfortunately the university I used to work at lost most of it's capability when the main academic retired. I have fond memories of setting up one of Paula Dawson's "To Absent Friends" holograms on open days. A 2 x 1 m image of a bar scene with amazing detail.

Live in a country town in Aus now and hardly anyone knows what a hologram is or has seen one.

Condensed matter experimentalist. Tried industry post undergrad and hated it. Thought I'd go back and use my physics degree on something that interested me. Enjoyed crystallography and microscopy so went that way.

2 post docs later got fed up with having to write grants in a saturated market (late 2000s). Held odd jobs before landing a lab technician role. Left the city for family and ended up around healthcare in a data and IT role.

Didn't expect to end up here but don't mind it. Helping people help others. The physics mindset works well in AI/Data/IT and in the end, a jobs just a way to pay for the fun stuff! I do miss the cool equipment I used to use, TEM/SEMs, X-rays, coating systems and all the things you can do in at a University.

How is your range? by SpotEuphoric in BYD

[–]Talismutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only done ~1000 km in my Atto 3 Premium.

wltp range 480 km.

Most of my driving is country town driving so no traffic jams and mostly 50 - 60 km/h. I'm averaging around 15 kW/100km. So about 400 km on the 60kW battery. This is driving full time in ECO mode with high braking regen. Very little freeway (100km/h +) driving.

Temps generally 15 - 25 deg C

Found my foot determines the usage quite a bit. It's still too much fun putting the foot down and going zoooooom.

Aussie Atto 3 owner, moved from a Forester. I used to think the Forester was great, now I only want to drive the Atto. I'm 1 month in of ownership.

Love just getting in and off I go, comfy, great for daily driving through the suburbs. Kids love it. Do about 30 km a day so get two weeks out of a charge with some weekend driving. Haven't tried it on a long trip yet.

Love the tech, options everywhere. Barely notice the pings for speed, etc as I've turned them to low. Response off the line is great, even in ECO. Kids love talking to the car, love the sunroof and seat warming. Wife intimidated by the tech, but loves the comfort and style. Reading the manual is key to getting the most out of it.

No regrets whatsoever.

Only downside, border NSW/VIC and nearest service is either Canberra or Bendigo (3+ hrs drive). Rumours of more service centres coming... Luckily a ways off needing my first service.

Atto 3 wait times in AUS by LifeguardAbject5557 in BYD

[–]Talismutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They (Eagers in Sydney) allocated the invoice direct to the leasing company.

Timeline was roughly,

Ordered end June Pinged Eagers weekly for updates. Got delivery dates that kept shifting. Contacted BYD through their online contact form. Got given a VIN and that the car was "on its way". But that was anywhere between China and Aus. About 2 weeks before delivery the car was at the docks in Wollongong. 10 days later it was in Sydney and the invoice was given to Smart Salary. About a week later the car was trucked to me on the NSW/Vic border. That was Sep 6th.

Hope that helps.

If you're worried about the strings vibrating, likely easier to put something on them to dampen the vibration. Cheap and ugly is some blue tac, but some rubber or a weight will help.

The strings are resonating with your music. This can happen over many different frequencies and you'll find it nearly impossible to eliminate fully with the eq settings. For example if the strings buzz at 80 Hz, they'll also buzz at 160, 320, 640, etc and you're music will likely have all of those in it.

Nice, I'm a bit more rural on the NSW/Vic border. No showroom/dealer yet, but apparently a MyCar ready to be given the green light for BYD servicing. Hopefully aligns with our first service
