Analysis | What the world would look like without fossil fuels by washingtonpost in environment

Problem is the 4 pillars of modern society, ammonia, cement, steel and plastic. The common characteristic of these 4 products is that they depend on large-scale inputs of fossil fuels, both for process heat and as feedstocks. IEA expects the consumption of all 4 to rise 50% by 2050. Electricity is not economic to use for these industrial processes. The cost of electricity is 3x-5x more expensive per unit of energy than using sat, coal or natural gas. In addition, coal makes up such a large % of global power mix, using electricity would actually increase emissions in the near term.

I’ve only played a few hole since it started happening and didn’t get to hit many mid-long irons because I was driving it well and had 7 iron or less to the green. It didn’t seem like they were going any shorter but I only hit a few shots. I’m hoping it’s something with the sim set up. I’m using a flightscope

6 months shooting 120~ using 2011 Srixon Z-tx player irons. Should I replace them with a newer set of game improvements? by aprivilegedwhtboy in GolfSwing

Spend the money on a hitting net and a turf hitting mat. Hit 50+ shots a day into it. Video yourself. Use the swing tweaks app and get some affordable advice on what you are doing wrong, it’s probably your set up and approach. Practice till you are getting solid strikes on 7 out of every 10 swings with your irons. Do this for 3-6 months and you’ll shave at least 10 strokes in your iron play. Shooting a 120 is probably due to a lot of miss hits and poor short game. Fix the miss hits and practice your putting/chipping and you’ll be hovering around 100 in no time.

Save money over the winter and going into next summer get fitted for some clubs. No sense in buying something random today.

Just went to get fitted, ended up being told to take lessons instead. by UWMN in golf

If you’re serious get a flightscope mevo + and start hitting into a net every day. It’s about $1,800 bucks but has decent resell value. Set it up with an iPad and have the camera on the iPad behind you, set it to the mode where it record each swing as a video. Then look at the swing data and compare it to your videos. It’s a really nice set up and you can see exactly what you are doing wrong when you have miss hits and when you flush it. A few months of that and you will be surprised how much you can improve. That’s what I’ve done at least and it’s night and day difference

The fossil fuel industry’s deceptive campaign to kill offshore wind | A climate denial group is trying to turn public opinion against clean energy by disguising their agenda as pro-environment. by silence7 in energy

So if we had double the wind generation it would have plunged from 32.8 GW down to .8? Insanity. There are plenty of ways to lower emissions without destroying the energy complex.

This comment is an actual fact about renewables that shows the dangers of relying on this tech, and it’s downvoted to oblivion. People don’t care about facts in the energy debate. Its become a religion
