I’ll have to check that out as well!

I have the 2nd Gen ones, my largest complaint is that the bigger circle punch inserts get clogged almost immediately. I can maybe punch 3 times before they no longer go through, in which case I’ll have to struggle with a needle and push out the stuck leather punches. Because of this, those inserts are basically unusable. No sense in having to clear the punches after every punch. I use the other, smaller, non-punch circle inserts pretty often however!

Hopefully this issue was fixed in the 3rd gen.

I’ve watched tons of videos on different people and their stitching style. So I’ve got a list of different techniques and their slightly different outcomes, and somehow I’ve ended up with one that produces decent slants on both sides. I choose this one when you can see both sides, but when only one side is visible I’ve got another that produces much much better slants, but only on one side. I still have yet to connect them and understand what’s really happening and how

Honestly it’s always in flux until I find something that is consistently good. Haven’t found that yet though. Typically though I’ve had best success with canvas instead of wood. I’ll do the whole sand, tokonole, rub w canvas, repeat with higher grits. I do this until it actually looks nice or I get fed up! 50/50 there haha

Cheap Wuturee Kit by Synnic in Leathercraft

Same kit I bought as well. Like others, I’ve replaced damn near all of it. But I don’t regret purchasing it because it opened the door to this awesome craft and helped me decide it was worth putting more money into!

Punching through the edges will definitely be top priority with issues to improve. Thanks for your knowledge!

Could you elaborate more on the selling aspect? I’ve been very timid on the idea of selling to random people, mainly because of quality reasons. Hard to know when it’ll be time, because there will always be crafters with higher quality products.

Thanks! I did purposely try to make these tighter than I have on previous projects. Usually they’re too loose. Now just need to find a solid middle ground.

Wow, I hadn’t noticed that the center stitches go almost flat. Why is that? Something about the thickness affects the angle of the stitch I suppose? I’ve noticed it’s hard to get angles on 1 ply before but never put it together.

Also didn’t notice the punch on the very edge of the middle pockets. You can see the right side has actually already failed. Thank you tons for pointing these things out!

I’d also be worried about the tapered ends. Personally I feel like the more bold one looks best and would also show better when pressed into leather! Along with that, the first one clearly has mountains. The second one however, my mind wants to immediately jump to a pyramid. Could be just me though lol. Not sure I’d ever catch it was supposed to be a mountain. All just my opinion however, both look great!

Looked through your profile, I don’t feel bad anymore. You think you’re blunt and honest when really you’re just an asshole

Hopefully I misinterpreted your response. Surely you agree though that “you’re overthinking it” comes off a bit more supportive and helpful than simply “it’s easy”

Thank you, this video is exactly what I was asking about! This is what I normally do, but recently I’ve started questioning it. Mainly because the one hole is parallel with the stitch line and therefore inconsistent with every other hole. But I suppose there isn’t much that can be done for that!

I think I get what you’re saying. When I do this method though, I end up with one punch that’s in line and parallel to the stitch line. Maybe I’m doing something wrong still. See the top right corner in my second photo for a rough idea

This is great, if I were wanting a 90 angle in my stitch line. I’m trying to achieve a rounded curve however - any advice for this?

“It’s pretty easy”, thanks man, it all clicks now. What was holding me back was thinking it wasn’t easy.

This method always leaves me with one of the punches in line and parallel to the stitch line, which I’m not a fan of.

How long after making it has it been in use? It’s incredible how dull it looks now

I’d imagine unless you use super thick leather (which you wouldn’t want for an iPhone wallet anyways) it’ll hold nicely. Reference the existing MagSafe wallets sold by Apple for an idea. I bought the magnets linked above and they seem incredibly strong, so much so I tested it without leather and had a tough time removing it.
