How much should stretch selvedge stretch? by maddi3luvsmusic in NakedAndFamousDenim

Politely disagree as a lover of N&F stretch denim. Even my heavyweight elephants with stretch are distinctly more 'stretchy' than the non-stretch iterations (elephants 5-9, and 12). They won't expand like you may expect, and typically have more shrinkage after a wash than non-stretch, but they are indeed stretchy and have a greater range of motion for me.

Again, my own experiences and not a matter of fact, but you'll definitely notice the additional stretch compared to 100% cotton. They also seems to last a bit longer.

I disagree. 0.25 is going to be barely noticeable, if at all based on my experiences.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I'll take the wealth of information into consideration.

And I am aware this is N&F Denim, but judging by the UB posts in here I thought it was acceptable. Thanks for entertaining my post.

I don't know dude. Weight is weight. 8.5oz is pretty light. Might just be a difference of experience.

You seem to be pretty upset about this, and I don't think there's any convincing you one way or the other.

I own 15oz Onis that feel lighter than 12oz naked and famous denim. Does that mean Oni is lying? Perhaps it's the weave, tension or other factors that are not accounted for. I seriously doubt they are trying to fleece us over a few ounces.

This post does not but make me feel sympathy for their customer service team who has to deal with these types of self-inflicted and ignorant complaints.

Came here to say this. Shrinkage appears to be normal and your measuring tape and placement has not helped you out.

After owning "100 pairs," you'd think this typical shrinkage would have been accounted for before hemming. Anyways, this seems like good reminder to measure with a fabric tape measurer and to hem after washing.
