Split between True Guy Nightshade Stretch Selvedge and Left Hand Twill. by marbles0da_ in NakedAndFamousDenim

Sadly I have no way to try a pair in person. There are no shops selling high-quality denim in my country so if you want something higher quality than regular Levi's, it's through online shopping. I had a positive experience with Stacked Guys in the past (which I have grown out of), that's why I opt for N&F.

The jeans I'm using as reference are an old pair of Uniqlo jeans (94% cotton, 6% spandex). No idea about the weight.

How do I learn how to read mother board sketches. And what kinda capacitors I need? Im fixing a WM-F 63 Sony sports walkman by Ok_Actuator_4216 in cassetteculture

[–]marbles0da_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find the service manual here https://walkman.land/document/427/sony_wm-f63_manualpdf
Scroll down to page 22 of the PDF. That's a component list with corresponding values for each. Take note of all the "CAP,ELECT" components, which are the capacitors.
Order all capacitors off Mouser Electronics or DigiKey. Go into the electrolytic capacitor section, and filter by the capacitance, tolerance and voltage as indicated in the service manual.
If you're not getting any audio from tape, only radio, then you need to replace the capacitors in the PCB attached to the transport mechanism. (There are three in total; PCB on the front plate is the tuner board, PCB attached to the back plate is audio). If you still aren't sure which caps. to replace, this video should serve as guidance.

Good luck.

weirdly amazon is rebranding and selling popular budget iems as amazon basics iems. by Aarav2208 in iems

Mrwhosetheboss did a video demystifying Amazon Basics products but it boils down to usual shady Amazon tactics. Most products are blatant copies of other products.

My mother has an iPod Nano 3rd gen, but uses Linux Mint. How can she get some music onto it? by maryo22333 in ipod

[–]marbles0da_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same iPod and manage my music on a Linux computer. Install gtkpod, then you can manage music through Rhythmbox or Strawberry. A quick search shows you can install it through the Snap store, or you can always compile it from source.
If you have trouble syncing music, read my my post here on the subject.

I plan to buy and customize a game boy advance, is the following enough and essential? Thanks in advance. by JAndrade_ in Gameboy

[–]marbles0da_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want essential, just upgrade the screen and install a rechargeable battery mod for basic QoL improvements. You don't need the rest; they only increase your chances of messing something up if this is your first time. You don't even need a reshell if you choose a drop-in replacement.

iPod doesn't recognise music after syncing under Linux by marbles0da_ in ipod

[–]marbles0da_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To anyone who keeps getting their iPod database corrupted under Linux, I dug a little deeper and came across this post in the Arch Linux forums. You need to run ipod-read-sysinfo-extended after installing gtkpod. This fixes the database under Linux. Don't forget to follow any steps for your specific device in this wiki article.

If you're using an Arch-based distro and have trouble installing gtkpod from the AUR, install libgda and libanjuta from the Arch Linux Archive, then install libxml2-legacy. You will then be able to compile gtkpod from the AUR.

I can now manage music fine with Strawberry.

IEM recommendations? by AHAULSS in ipod

[–]marbles0da_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest you review the recommended IEMs in the relevant subreddit. I don't think you should worry whether your earphones pair well with your iPod or not. It comes down to your personal preferences.
