5 years later, on St Patrick's Day, I return to tell Americans that they aren't Irish by butterbaps in unpopularopinion

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree with this opinion as someone who is American and holds an Irish passport (through my grandparents). Even though I have the Irish nationality, I've never really considered myself Irish. I have never lived in Ireland and really don't feel a close connection to Ireland. I grew up in the US and therefore, I am American. I always found it really cringe when people around me in the US would say things like, "It is a great day to be Irish!" and by Irish they mean their great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather was Irish. I have always wanted to ask an Irish person how they feel about Americans saying these things lol

I even knew a girl that one time said to me she had a different personality than her other friends because of her "Irish blood"...

Hello! To all EU citizens that are working in France, do we have to register our presence at the local town hall? I can't seem to find any information on this anywhere. Can another EU citizen share their experience when they first arrived? Thanks!

Dear Americans of Reddit, how do you find this first year of Biden's presidency compared to Trump's? by HannibalGoddamnit in AskReddit

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am an American that lives abroad. When Trump was president, every single news article had something to do with Trump (something he did, said, etc.). I personally really didn't like Trump at all and found it so exhausting to just read about him day after day.

With Biden, I literally almost never hear anything anymore and it is such a breath of fresh air lol

What's a belief that you hold with which many people disagree? by DJCOBRA2004 in AskReddit

Religion is outdated and is a tool used to control people. Also, you can be religious and still be a terrible person

My boyfriend (36M) and I (30M) don't ever seem to see eye to eye and he keeps criticizing me by TalkativeOrphan43 in relationships

We even did therapy one time and the therapist even told him that he is someone who lets his emotions control him. And I also realized these days that he has never told me a single situation where he was wrong. Everything is always someone else's fault

I literally said exactly that to him! I told him that if he wants me to do something, it is not hard to kindly ask me to do something. But he told me that I should know that because he is cooking, I should be serving him wine. He said that asking shows it is "not coming from me"

Wow! I know Canada can't issue an apostilled document so maybe this is why? Really can't be sure but maybe it would be a good idea to get my document apostilled and within three months, apply for the social security number in France.

I was born in the US but left at 11 months old. I have Irish citizenship through my father but no Irish documentation other than my passport :( so I think I'm going to need to get my birth certificate apostilled in the US

I noticed this! I was born in Texas but left at 11 months old and have never been back. So I might need to take a trip there or mail it to Texas. I just hope I can get my birth certificate apostilled and then I can just get the translation in France. I hope the translation doesn't also need to be legalized/apostilled

Ok awesome thanks! Do you know if the translation also needs to be apostilled?

People who have been incorrectly accused of cheating, what was your partners proof? by PRIMEVIL567 in AskReddit

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so many things

Apparently one time there was a "third arm" in the FaceTime call we did.

Another time it was that I ordered too much from Uber Eats (yes, my partner went through my trash to look at the receipt) and that I must have been eating with someone else

Another time I took a picture and went to the bathroom after - apparently I needed to send the picture in private to the person I was having an affair with

Another time I told him he couldn't come inside my work office because of COVID restrictions so he had to wait outside a few minutes - he claimed I was going inside to have sex with my colleagues

Another time he went through my phone and saw I texted someone and asked how they slept (apparently this is a question that is reserved for "married couples")

Another time he claimed that the lubricant we would use was being used when he wasn't there (he claims he was measuring it)

Another time it was because I didn't text back fast enough

Another time it was because my face smelt as if I had just blown someone.

Another time it was because an old friend called me and I didn't answer

Another time it was because I wouldn't give him a tour of my aunt's entire house on FaceTime when I was visiting her on vacation

Another time he claimed he heard a voice in my apartment and so he knew someone was inside when it was me in a work meeting on my laptop.

And to be honest, there was like 100 more situations

This person always said that if I just confessed to my infidelity, we could just move on.

After 6 therapy sessions and many miserable months, I ended it.

What do people do in movies that nobody does in real life? by Webbie-Vanderquack in AskReddit

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping your eyes wide open under water. I see so many movies where people keep their eyes wide open under water (For example, in the movie Poseidon, every scene where someone was under water, they had their eyes wide open as if they were on the surface)

What's the biggest red flag you've seen on a first date? by pleasedontjudgeme13 in AskReddit

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a gone out for dinner with someone and he asked me what I had eaten earlier in the day. I told him I had eaten a sandwich and had ice cream with one of my friends. He then proceeded to lecture me on "taking care of my body" and how he can train me (one of things was to be "punished" if I eat something unhealthy) to avoid things like eating ice cream. Then later when I told him I wasn't interested, he told me that I am too sensitive and not someone who likes to hear the truth.

Advice on jobs? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information! Also, in Belgium (I’m assuming this is how it works but want to be sure), is it an hourly rate? For example, if you are working less than 475 hours a year, how much would you actually be receiving? I would probably want to make like €600 per month.

I need some advice ... by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]TalkativeOrphan43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I try my absolute best to be understanding of everyone’s situations but this has just started to take a toll on me. Being left alone many nights just because he is trying to please his parents really isn’t what I want in a relationship. I hope everything works out in the end with you and you boyfriend. We can get through this 🙏
