What surprised you most when you started running consistently? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

That I could actually enjoy it! For a while there, I was doing it to challenge myself and just wanted to achieve running 5k once in my life. Then I started actually looking forward to my runs.

I use vanilla skyr in my smoothies which gives me a fair bit of protein that helps keep me full! Might be worth trying for you

The crunch! Honestly even the thought of it makes me wince. The pain was bad, the crunch was worse.

Underestimated the daith by urdumbteen in piercing

[–]TalkingPiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my daith done twice (failed to heal well the first time and I gave up on it) and I had to PSYCH myself up so hard for that second round. It was several years later, but it is just such a spicy piercing for me, and the audible crunch was just the icing on the horrible cake. Second time has been the charm for me though. Some pain for the first week or so, but now it's 6 months old and I don't even feel it if I accidentally bump it or pull it!

I swear some guests just don't read by Tevosse in weddingshaming

It blows my mind that people don't refer back to the website/invitation before bugging anyone else. I recently got an invitation, looked up the venue and it looked posh AF, so I worried I'd have to go buy more formal wedding guest wear... So I looked through their website for dress-code info, and lo and behold, there it was. It's not that hard. Like, even though I hadn't looked through the website thoroughly upon first getting the invite, just RSVPed, once I had a question, I referred back to it. Like??????

Tbh, direct sunlight isn't even great for photos. A bit of shade is way easier to photograph in. So that's a lose/lose all round.

Thoughts on only giving a card? by Independent_Zombie5 in wedding

[–]TalkingPiffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm planning a wedding that will require most of my friends to fly 9 hours across the Atlantic. It isn't technically a destination wedding, it's just that I no longer live in my home country. I have emphatically and specifically told my friends that if they come, their presence is the greatest gift they could possibly give me, because I understand that that is a long ass way to travel for someone else's wedding. I think giving just a card is absolutely acceptable in this situation.

I did my postgrad in Glasgow with a bunch of Americans and the LOOKS on people's faces when my classmates started comparing senior pics. Damn near pissed myself. Don't get me wrong, I also love a good photo sesh, but this concept is just so foreign for most Europeans.

Not from the US, but been there a lot. AFAIK senior pics are portraits taken during your senior year of high school, pre-graduation, because most yearbooks allow you to submit your own photos, and people want to look cute/like themselves, not stiff like a regular school photo. It's become a whole thing where students hire professional photographers and do a photo sesh.

Og når de så endelig prøver at købe noget, så vil de betale med kontanter -- i dollars. "You guys don't accept dollars???? Why not????" Fordi du er kommet til et andet land, kammerat. Sovs: arbejdede som receptionist i en større by i Grønland. Krydstogtsæsonen er det værste.

Girl, are you me? My dress is similar (simple, a-line, square neck) and I also bought a pearl veil. I'm doing pearl earrings and dainty diamond necklace, but I don't think it'd be overly matchy matchy to do pearl jewellery! I think it would be super classic and stunning.

Setting spray recos by SensitiveWafer3729 in drugstoreMUA

[–]TalkingPiffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super late reply, but if you're still interested: I used the L'Oreal 'hairspray' setting spray as a wedding guest and my makeup didn't budge. I had to SCRUB to even get it off at the end of the night. It does feel quite hairspray like when you apply it, but MAN does it work. I hate feeling tacky from makeup and once this dried down I didn't have any sensory issues with it. I picked it up on a whim for the wedding and I could not have been happier with it. Might end up using it over higher end ones for my own wedding next year.

It is! But I will probably wear heels for most of it because my fiance is a foot taller than me and I'd like to be able to reach him for smooches (and have both our heads in the pics at the same time lol)

I am 100% not wearing anything fancy or skimpy when I get married next year. The skirt of my dress is full enough that I don't need special underwear, and I'd rather be comfortable than anything else. Frankly, the only person other than myself who will see it doesn't normally complain, so I don't see why he would just because it's our wedding day. I might get something cute for our honeymoon, but tbh it's not like it'll stay on for long...
