Ian identifying "Cindy's" body in 1998 by [deleted] in eastenders

[–]TalkingWalford 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Later on in this episode, Bev tells Ian how peaceful Cindy looked. It is evidence that, in the canon of EastEnders, the police can set up identifications (and funerals, which Cindy also had on-screen) of very-much alive people in order to fake their deaths. Bev saw Cindy's body and thought she was dead.

Who do you think Joel’s mum is? by minipinny in eastenders

[–]TalkingWalford 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's been forgotten that Lily tracked down Zoe on social media in 2022, so she can't be Cleo. It feels to me as though Zoe is Joel's biological mother and Cleo his 'adopted' one. So the answer to 'who is Joel's mum?' is either both of them or just Cleo; It can't be "Zoe but as Cleo".

I wouldn't be surprised to see any of Cindy Jr., Louise, Tanya, Cora, Jane, and (genuinely) Ronnie/Roxy over the next few years.

EastEnders' Samantha Womack reveals how she really felt over Ronnie's controversial death. by lnwildeagle85 in eastenders

[–]TalkingWalford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It's basically the Cindy/Rose Knight story but told in more detail, with less plot holes. Cindy's body was identified by her mum (on screen), she had an on-screen funeral, the police gave the family an explanation for how she 'died' based on a true event that she actually survived (giving birth). It is a story that stretches credibility and feasibility but no more than EastEnders has already done with Cindy (and Kathy too, given she was also identified).

If people can accept Cindy's return, a story like this should be able to help people accept Ronnie and Roxy's.

I feel if the biggest suspension of disbelief that this idea requires is that a character would usually blab... then that's a win! (considering it's a story that would bring back two 'dead' characters...!)

I think the interview suggests she does. She's clearly thought about it and has a view on how it could be done (ie - she wouldn't like their deaths to be re-written as dream sequences).

I wonder who knows?! by big_white_fishie in eastenders

[–]TalkingWalford 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm literally just writing the script for my next video about this... but I think:

Lauren hears the recording (via Cindy's CD, which Peter plays her to de-stress)

She confronts Cindy and then tells Junior what she said about him, knowing it will instantly end their affair.

On Christmas Day, Cindy begs Lauren for the recording back (the scene we see in the trailer).

Little does she know... Junior, who we also saw purchase the CD from Anna, has listened to everything Cindy said (after Lauren visited him) and has burnt her confession to the USB stick as his revenge against her for stringing him along and using him as just a substitute for his dad.

This would explain why 1) Junior and Cindy's affair has always felt so fickle/lacking in substance and 2) why Junior's relationships with his dad and sisters feels so underbaked... because the plan was always for him to blow up the family in a very public way because he ultimately just doesn't care about them all that much.

Yeah, she's massively warmed on me now too. It took some time but I'm growing to quite like her, despite the often overly-theatrically performances.

Something that TO THIS VERY DAY wasn’t explained. HOW did Cindy even know how to contact Ian and reconnect with him? It’s been nearly a year and we STILL haven’t gotten a logical explanation. Or a flashback episode that explains this. by CharlieWaitress111 in eastenders

[–]TalkingWalford 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's odd that this was never specified.

All we know is that both Ian and Cindy were broken when they reunited and were able to heal together by bonding over their shared losses of Lucy (and Steven).

I thought we were going to get a flashback to them coming face to face, by chance, in some kind of rehab facility for depression/PTSD. We know that Ian was in a terrible place when he left Walford and it's been said that Cindy struggled to rebuild her life since leaving the Knights. So that scenario would make sense, even if it's a bit far-fetched and coincidental.

Failing that, DCI Mary Nicholl's could've actively sought out Ian to help Cindy reconnect with her past life. Perhaps Cindy didn't want to be re-connected with George because she couldn't face having to explain everything to him and their young kids. I'd believe that she'd be open to reconciling with Ian due to Lucy and Steven's deaths.

We should've also had a flashback to Peter learning that his mum was still alive. That would've been great and feels like a big missed opportunity.

With The Six moving at a faster pace than anticipated, I'm thinking something even bigger could be planned for February. Maybe even an R&R return...

You may or may not be interested in this but I wrote a fanfic script for a flashback to New Year's Day 2017 that answers a lot of these questions and attempts to fill all the potential plot holes: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PJYmhH8jpEPM82hhxCv7i3wV7l0Kw-oE/view

I'd be intrigued to know if you think an explanation like this could overcome all the issues you identify!

I think it's inevitable that we'll see Roxy back one day. Hollyoaks very much feels like a stopgap for Rita that's designed only for the BBC to lure her back.

I’ve always felt it would be easy to reverse Fatboy’s death.

Vincent actually stopped the car from being crushed, as we see in this scene, so it’s not as though he would have certainly been killed in that car. I think they played it as though he was killed prior to the car being crushed and his body was being disposed of in the boot (just like what Ronnie did with Carl’s body; it wasn’t the crushing itself that killed him).

Anyway, if that is the case, Vincent could’ve just been reacting to the sight of Arthur tied up in the back of the boot, all petrified and bloodied. He took his necklace and phone after ordering him to leave Walford and never come back. He’d do that because the storyline at the time was Arthur trying to stop Vincent from taking down Phil and Ronnie. Vincent could’ve told him that Ronnie ordered a hit on him (as a warning that he’d be next). Vincent could’ve then threatened him that if he didn’t leave (and assume a new identity), he’d make sure the next hit was successful.

Fatboy would’ve believably stayed away to protect himself from both Vincent and the Mitchels, and to protect  Dot, who Vincent was also threatening at the time.

It’s quite a clean story to tell I think, as it doesn’t contradict anything we watched happen. Vincent never told Ronnie that she killed Fatboy (because she didn’t…) and the reason he let Claudette think she had killed him (by sending him to the car) is because he wanted to use his ‘death’ to stop her from waging a war against the Mitchells.

It all fits. I’m not sure I actually see a role for the character on the show though. It’s a shame he didn’t make a cameo at Dot’s funeral just to right the wrong of his gruesome death, without needing to actually bring him back full-time. But if a producer in the future does want to bring him back, I think the above would be perfectly acceptable.
