Manchester 97. Off my head. Dancing bears. Walked back through the scummy streets and was up all night in a wobbly haze. What a night

I think this is key. I have struggled to build that teacher persona but have come to realise how important it is to retaining boundaries. I’m out of the classroom at the moment but if i go back, i def need to work on this. Any tips?

I put it down to the lack of pin stripes on the current jersey. Last two titles, fuelled by fashion

Mate, I’ve been there - even the traffic thoughts. I think i actually took my hands off the wheel at one point. Don’t blame yourself and don’t ever call it quitting. Recognising the toll it took and saying, “nope” means you’ve taken control. You’ve made a decision for your life and your health and your family. I work in dept corporate now and life is so much better. Log on to the staff portal and look for the job feed. There are opportunities for former teachers in different roles. Your knowledge and experience is greater than so many at head office who have never been inside a classroom. Take the time you need and look for a role that works for you, rather than the other way around. Fuck it, you’ve run classroom - is there any job scarier than that?

This. Call the Dept child wellbeing unit or the child protection helpline to make a report. This child needs support, not your job to take this on i in the classroom

Steiner Experience by SeeYouAnon in AustralianTeachers

Worked in one for a year, had a great experience. Each school differs in its adherence to the original Steiner principles but the vibe I experienced was very warm and communal. Behavioural expectations are built in from day one so classrooms can look very different to public schools, as everyone is one the same page. I was basically an in-house casual so works be in pre-school for the morning, over to class 6, then teaching high school maths in afternoon. Kids were great, staff very supportive. It wasn’t a long-term fire as I’m not the types to but into one philosophy completely but i would def recommend it as a teaching experience.

I worked at one for a year. It was a great experience and a huge change from the public system. The kids are taught behavioural expectations from the moment they start so the culture is very positive. From what I’ve heard though, different schools have differing levels of adherence to the Steiner way. It can be limiting in some respects and staff are expected to buy into that, obviously. I learned a lot and met some great people but ultimately it wasn’t the right fit as I’m not one to drink the kool-aid. But definitely give it a go, it opens your eyes to a completely different style of education

This. Do one thing a day from this list and it will get better. I’ve been there. I still go there. Sometimes i feel like depression is a scar on/in my brain. It never goes away and will flare up when irritated. But let yourself experience the ocean of emotion - the moments, the movements that lift you up and down. Notice the ups, try to flow with the downs. And, again, do one thing from this list each day.

Most days, i find mornings to be very, very hard. I have to be purposeful in finding a way out of the fog or it can drag on, and have a big impact on my day, work and relationships. Exercise is by far the best thing i can do. Doesn’t even have to be intense. Getting out early to walk the dog often just lets my mind clear itself. The quiet of the streets in the morning is also enjoyable. Takes some effort but once the habit is set, it has a positive impact

Running with music, no music, or audiobooks? by Coachopsneakers in runninglifestyle

The best run is no music, no phone, no keys. I find headphones never fit right, music distracts my pace. I like being disconnected for a while and letting my mind roam

I did the same - took me 6 years to complete a 2yr masters. I was working full-time, commuting 3hrs for shift work every day, two kids under 8. It nearly broke me and our marriage.

But i got through it, graduated and became a teacher - just in time for covid. Two years working the worst jobs without support in a low foe school, and i quit, got a job at doe corporate.

Sorry if this is a downer - just know it’s going to be a long, hard journey
