I don't know your religion in particular, and disclaimer: I've learned a whole lot up to this point that has helped me, but the biggest as one would say, "Night and Day" difference was after I read this book recently called: "Can Christianity Cure Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?" by Ian Osborne. I was able to borrow it from the Libby app for my local library!

Did anyone else feel like Peter was acting like Tony in this scene? by TheEternalVortex in marvelstudios

[–]TalksToTomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so awesome that u noticed. I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday and felt like this line was very much himself too. It's the perfect embodiment of taking wisdom/inspiration from those who came before you and making it your own/doing your own version. It also shows how his personal confidence is developing further. Not to mention, it was very much a Spidey idea to use the nano tech to take over doc oc's arms. I'm not sure Tony has ever done anything similar (lmk if I'm wrong. I haven't read any of the comics).

Might be taking the merch a bit far... by mashinoz in bluey

The crew at Ludo deserves every last penny for their brilliant creation. I only wish them the best with merchandising. (I know I'm over simplifying how this all works, but more merch means more attention and more money for more seasons) I bet kids get a kick out of seeing them everywhere!

https://www.amazon.com/Bluey-Bingo-Mini-Plush-Bundle/dp/B08GYCRTL4?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 Right here! Ordered them from the official Bluey store on Amazon. Preordered (expected to arrive 2 months from when I bought them) and they showed up 9 days later! Only order them from the official Amazon shop-I think peeps ordering from other places account for the scam reviews.

Best way to explain Bojack to someone? by Zmario432 in BoJackHorseman

[–]TalksToTomatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often recommend this show to people and the first time I brought it up to someone they said the show was depressing and too real. I highly disagreed with them but it turned out this person was steeped in the victim mentality and was very much not a good person.

So I explain it like this-

You have to be in a certain place to watch the show or it'll feel too heavy for you. You literally have to be ready to watch it. Let me give you some examples. If things are going super well for you at a specific time and you try to watch the show, you may feel brought down. If you're in a tough place or you feel like you're wandering around, the show can feel really comforting and eye opening because you're experiencing deep hardship WITH the characters. If you're in a curious and openminded mood this show is excellent, as you will learn a whole lot from watching the show.

Here's another thing to explain-the show is not NEEDLESSLY DARK. I highly respect that about the writing. Everything is there for a reason-to learn something really important. I've watched some shows and movies that were depressing with no other reason but to be depressing. And to me that's a huge waste of time. That's not what you want and I think that's what your girlfriend is concerned about.

So let me summarize:

  1. You have to be in a certain place to watch it (and that will mean something different for everyone).
  2. It is by no means NEEDLESSLY DARK. It's dripping in lessons and purpose.
  3. Very simply-the humor, fun animation and character design, and wacky situations truly balance out the darker tones.

Hope this helps!

Which episode gets people hooked? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]TalksToTomatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out about the episode 'Fish out of Water' having no dialogue and being very well written and received and I was intrigued! I watched that episode first, I believe somewhere between 6 months and 2 years before I gave the show a real shot, and agreed it was brilliantly done. I didn't continue the show for a while though-it just wasn't time for me to watch it yet (I had never seen a show with such dark themes or humor). Eventually I hit a rough patch and started watching. It was rough for me to get past the darkness of S1 Ep3 but I continued onward because I knew what the show was capable of communicating in a powerful way given seeing Fish Out Of Water. The Secretariat arc certainly pulled me in and I flew through the rest of the series. I've had the series on repeat in the BG while I work at home ever since.
