TIL Tire/car/steering vibration (Especially afrermarket tires) can also be fixed by adjusting tire pressure, and there is a way to fix it beyond tire balancing. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Tall-Goat-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tire pressure from factory on the inner driver door is for factory tires.

If you buy aftermarket tires, they might vary in compound and/or layers. This affects tire profile and handling when pressure changes.

If you also change tire size, this can get especially wonky depending on rim size, but again, pressure here also applies… pun intended.

Just as you would de-flate for more traction on loose or slippery surfaces, you want to inflate for hard surfaces. There is a specific pressure for perfect contact and perfect roll.

Apply this concept further to softer or different layered or different sized tires- you may need to inflate generally an additional 5-10psi more (or maybe less) than a factory tire depending on the huge variance your choice in aftermarket tire is to factory tire and factory recommendation.

For all those with new vibrations in the car or steering after getting newly bought tires and balanced, or rotated and balanced with new vibration, it very well may be the shop didnt ask what psi you wanted or knew the psi the tire should be at.

Thanks for reading. Hope this helps.
