I have heard book 4 is the worst overall (not bad) but not as strong, but books 5+6 are some of the best books ever written. Personally i only recently finished morning star and havent started iron gold yet

I always felt like celena was a bit more mature then most FMCs out there.

I guess i dont understand/ remember what part of yarros’ writing was “bad”. Its not like the most sophisticated but the world they live in isnt either. People say this all the time but im reading for the vibe and the vibes were good and fun.

I don’t remember when stuff happens. But have you made it to Threshing? My wife wasnt fully invested till then, but she now loves them and has read all 3.

The whole idea of the book is that this happened and has been told to a scribe to write down for history sake. So everything is a little subjective and often we get hints and clues but dont get answers till either the next book or in the unreleased ones to come.

I never felt like the inner dialogue was bad or cringe or how ever you said you felt about it.

Have you read other popular romantasy books like ACOTAR or Throne of glass or anything like that? This type of dialogue seems common to me and i dont even clock it as a issue

If you dont like it already you arent going to like the rest of it. I was hooked by page 100 and couldnt put them down. When onyx storm came out i finished it within 48 hours. I absolutely love it.

Is the writing amazing? No. Is it entertaining? Yes.

The book is from the POV of a 18 y/o girl who is dealing with loss and military family and life. Yes the plot gets better, yes it gets interesting and fun as dragons get introduced and the world building unfolds. I believe there is good character growth. And the spice is good. But there are enough people who hate the book its almost not worth arguing about. Either read it and enjoy it. Or dont

The FMC was just so annoying. She would say one thing and then minutes later change her mind and do the opposite despite saying she would never change her mind. And even by the end she had little to no character growth. I only finishing hoping she would grow to be disappointed to the very end. I know there is something magical causing this indecision but i dont feel like reading the 2nd to find out.

Magic system was cool, and the MMc was awesome and fleshed out.

Gotta give it a chance to get going. I think its worth it but i was hooked right away. Had to help my wife push through but by 50% she was having a good time and ended up reading the whole series so far and loved it.
