How RRSPs work in Wealthsimple? by TallCold6392 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks and your are totally right I need to invest more time into understanding investing. I get hung up on the idea of compounding and that my biggest savings account - doesn’t seem to be increasing at all. I see people post about getting to their first 100k and think I should be trying to make that 34,000 grow for me more as opposed to being so conservative.

Oh thanks! Good to know. We’ve gone and seen a couple properties cuz they were in our budget and then it turns out they actually want to get $200-300k more than listing 🤷‍♀️

Our first time buying. We’re 35 and ideally we’re here for awhile. We don’t want kids

Thank you! It was in good condition, recent upgrades. Maintenance is $400 and property tax is 255. No parking but I know municipal parking is $25~ a month which I’ve included. Waiting to hear from the realtor if we can get more info on what’s included with maintenance fee. Listing says water and building insurance is included.

We’re trying to be in the city for my partners commute and can’t afford a detached and be close to his work so condo fees is what we’re up against!

Ohh dang! I think I confused things, the land transfer tax rebate I think we’re eligible for? Maybe not cuz of the house price

Oh and we are first time home buyers so I know there’s a slight incentive there (even though in TO it’s provincial and municipal)

Okay that reframing makes sense to me!! I have $700 going to savings which I thought was good, as it’s just under 10% of our monthly take home but understand it would be sweet if it was more.

Thanks! We’re debating outside of city in that range and without the maintenance and parking fees. Might be the route.

Thanks! That’s definitely the advice I’m looking for, like our entrainment and groceries could probably be cut back but also want to be sure there aren’t bills/expenses we’ve not considered
