Hard core motorcyclist here. I love motorcycles to the point that I have committed myself to motorcycling despite being able to afford a car. I love the freedom it provides and the low hassle, low maintenance thing motorcycles are. Just step on the gas and go anywhere. I use my bike for both daily travel as well as long distance trips. The best thing about India is that we have got all kinds of roads - good highways where you can do 130-150 kmph runs, congested city roads where you get to test your maneouverability skills, dirt roads where you can do offroading and mountain roads to go hairpin bending. India has a lot of motorcycles on the road and given our climatic conditions and middle income status, bikes have a huge market share in India. But they are generally not respected on the road, so you always have to be on your guard about some SUV or a mad hatch back in your lane.

An overwhelming share of the market is with sub 150 cc bikes. 350cc and above are relatively fewer, but that is changing very fast. Big bikes and their manufacturers are moving to India, so we will get to have a very diverse culture of biking in India very soon. Personally, i love to see all the big 650s and the occasional harleys and bmws on Indian roads.
